News to me. Based on your postings, I would have thought you had been fully committed after a commitment hearing.
Meaning that, as with many things having to do with politics and policies and practices, there are pros and cons. I don't see things through a black and white lens as you apparently do.

The truth is usually somewhere in the middle.

The rampant and wholesale inaccuracy of LDS teachings does not put them in any middle ground. They are patently false.

That is your truth. I'm not sure that it is somewhere in the middle. In fact, it sounds as though you trend towards black and white thinking.

When something is clear, yes, it is black and white. Many areas of life are not clear, but the inaccuracies of LDS teachings are clear-cut.

Yes. As an example it is clear cut, objectively evidenced, that the Book of Mormon is not a 100% translation of ancient gold plates. Some of it was plagiarised from the KJV Bible that was written in the 17th Century. The Church has also been found guilty of a committing a complex shell company scheme specifically designed to illegitimately withhold financial information from the SEC.

Those are objective truths, hard facts, about the Church.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

I suspect the same reasoning as went into the family separation policy & practice (with no records kept to allow reunion).

They hope to so horrify potential offenders with the barbarity of their treatment that it acts as an effective deterrent.
