So...overnight the problem went from 'not resolved completely' or 'varying points of view' that cause 'contention and conflict' to... fully explained. Smith plagiarized the kjv but that's okay because god helped him do it. First time I've heard plagiarism excused as a 'gift from god', but maybe that's what Peterson tells himself so he can sleep at night. You cannot make this stuff up.I Have Questions wrote: ↑Wed Aug 06, 2025 10:14 pmFully engage? The Church doesn’t even partially engage in the problem of KJV Bible content appearing, verbatim, in a record the Church claims was written 1,000 years earlier. And that’s because they don’t even have a bad answer for it, let alone a good one. It’s a smoking gun and the Church knows it. Everyone knows it.

The so-called "miraculous events" were staged by actors/conmen. The alleged plates were a prop that could only be verified by biased participants who shared a stake in the fortunes of Mormonism.I Have Questions wrote: ↑Sun Aug 03, 2025 8:27 amIt’s sadly just more of the same.As you can probably tell from this introduction, this new essay is not going to deal with the fact that the Book of Mormon contains plagiarised KJV Bible content that was only written in the 17th Century. The Book of Mormon came to us through a series of miraculous events. It is the translation of an ancient record engraved on plates that was preserved for centuries and entrusted to Joseph Smith by an angel named Moroni.
KJV script in the Book of Mormon narrative proves that fraudulent application on Smith's part was the modus operandi in which Smith operated. Smith wanted his novel to sound as biblical as possible even if it meant robbing Peter to pay Paul.
I bear testimony that Smith's creative translations for the Book of Mormon was fraudulent fiction on his part.
Believe it not!
Even so, Amen.

Joseph Smith practiced his own version of witchcraft and spiritual sorcery:I Have Questions wrote: ↑Sun Aug 03, 2025 8:27 amNo reference is provided to support the assertion that “many Christians believed objects such as seer stones could be used to find lost objects or to search for buried treasure”. Joseph didn’t use his stone for “similar purposes”, Joseph used his seer stone to hunt, unsuccessfully, for buried treasure. The other people who used seer stones were superstitious folk magic types. I get why the Church is trying to portray Joseph’s treasure seeking as “normal” and “commonplace” within his environment, but it wasn’t. It was folk magic, occult, “witchcraft” type stuff.Another object, which Joseph Smith discovered in the ground sometime before he retrieved the gold plates, was a small brown stone, which was commonly called a “seer stone.” During the centuries leading up to Joseph Smith’s time, many Christians believed objects such as seer stones could be used to find lost objects or to search for buried treasure. Joseph himself had used his stone for similar purposes.
Shulem wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2023 2:36 pmAlthough the Smith family professed a pious belief in New Testament Jesus, the family desires and quest to discover hidden treasures with the aid and assistance of magical devices (parchments) was something they keenly set their hearts on. I can only imagine biblical Jesus making a shameful example of Smith family magic practices as they set their hearts on the things of the world rather than heaven. The Smith's were involved in what can be described as nothing short of witchcraft and the summoning of spirits with faith that treasures could be obtained by means of employing occult-like enchantments.
Joseph Smith was a witch!Shulem wrote: ↑Mon Dec 25, 2023 3:26 pmChurch historians would provide a valuable service if they came to terms that Smith family magic was practiced in a serious manner and the art of witchcraft was part of that practice in employing seer/peep stones, magical parchments, circles, astrology, conjuring of spirits, etc. The fact is, the Smith's practiced their own form of pious witchcraft regardless of their faith in biblical things. This needs to be stressed and that is exactly what I'm doing -- zero in like a laser and shine a spotlight on what the Smith's were actually doing, WITCHCRAFT using the supposed powers of white magic coupled with good intentions to provide general blessings to all involved.
I love to focus on the intentions and mindset of Joseph Smith in exactly what he may have been thinking and how he plotted to succeed in his ventures to establish a new religion with him as prophet, seer, and revelator. The seer stone coupled with the practice of white magic and witchcraft gave Joseph the experience he needed to fool everyone into believing he was visited by spirits, angels, and even Christ.

Re: New official essay on Book of Mormon translation, they’re still lying.
Smith's witchcraft failed to reproduce the number of days it took for Lehi to sail across the ocean in order to get to the promised land. Surely, Lehi's lost manuscript (116 pages) accounted for the number of days it took to sail to America. But as it was, no power on earth or in heaven would reinstate that number into Nephi's account. But Martin Harris's wife (Lucy) knew that number and it's a good thing Joseph retranslated the story to not include the number of days because he would have been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.I Have Questions wrote: ↑Sun Aug 03, 2025 8:27 amAgain, more slippery phraseology. The “magic spectacles” were only reported to have been used up to the point the 116 pages were “lost”. So the Book of Mormon we have today was (supposedly) produced only using the failed treasure seeking seer stone.According to eyewitness sources, Joseph sometimes used the interpreters or spectacles to translate. Other firsthand sources suggest he sometimes translated with a single seer stone. These objects could apparently be used interchangeably and worked in much the same way, and Joseph seems to have used them both at different times.

Because words contained in the the Book of Mormon reveal that Thievery & Plagiarism go hand in hand.I Have Questions wrote: ↑Sun Aug 03, 2025 8:27 amI don’t understand why they’ve rehashed the usual weak arguments, and once again committed the lie of omission by failing to address the verbatim KJV Bible content. That they have done so tells you they don’t even have bad explanations for it, let alone good ones, and they do not want to draw members' attention to it.
Why can’t the Church just tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?
For example:
KJV & Nephi wrote:And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces; and her time is near to come, and her day shall not be prolonged.

I spent the more part of my life believing in such things. I believed that an angel from God led Joseph Smith to a hill in which gold plates were mysteriously buried. I believed and trusted in misplaced feelings and personal spiritual experiences that I interpreted incorrectly. Mormonism fooled me and I took the bait.
I no longer believe in such nonsense. Neither do I believe there is a king's name in the writing of Facsimile No. 3 or that Egypt was first established in 2300 BC as the church claims.
I am awake!

The Church hasn't said a Goddamn thing about Anubis's snout being hacked out of the lead plate in order for Smith to turn an Egyptian god into a slave.
Mormon leadership is spiritually bankrupt and incapable of being honest.
I rebuke the Church with uplifted hand!
Amen.

Mormonism is a divided religion and has become a church pitted against itself.
Here is wisdom:

The Church has completely refused to address the problem of the copied KJV Bible content in the Book of Mormon. Because they know what it is and what it means. They let shills like Peterson tell the lies for them. And members like MG swallow down what they are shovelling without even pausing to chew.Marcus wrote: ↑Thu Aug 07, 2025 4:07 pmSo...overnight the problem went from 'not resolved completely' or 'varying points of view' that cause 'contention and conflict' to... fully explained. Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.
