Noon ET Today: New CWK!

Yes, I did it again! Another CWK. This video introduces in brief the concept of Lived Religion, and how it can be applied to our understanding of the lives of Mormons. Along the way I talk about the tension between rigidity in Mormon doctrine and the openness of Mormonism's search for truth. I also opine on where the openness may originate (hint: in the religious activities of the Smith family).

This one is about ten minutes shorter than the last one, but it packs in a lot!

I also use a different camera this time: the Panasonic Lumix G9 Mk2. Supposedly this one has much better autofocus. I noticed some hiccups, but I admit that I am using a budget lens and moving back and forth a fair amount in the video.

Kishkumen, nicely done! Thank you for painting an accurate picture of those folks that are 'Mormons'. On this board I've expressed my dismay over the fact that we can't 'see' each other. Some may only be able to see and 'understand' the so called stereotypical Mormon without being able to get past that and see that people have many 'moving parts' (a phrase I use repeatedly).

And so does Mormon History. People are not always either/or and it's frustrating to see, what I believe to be, an often black and white view some folks have on this and that. My maxim/code has been, for a long time now, that the truth (whatever that is) is usually...if not almost always...found closer to the middle than on/at either extreme.

Excellent Kish. It kind of reminded me of several things you discussed in your Four Corners article years ago in World's Without End. It's still one of the best article on the Gospel, in my opinion.
