So you're literally doing it for the children? So to do that you're focused on taking parents out of the church? That's why you're here? The thing is, your pool of potential converts is very small. The chance of your having any indirect influence on children seems VERY small.

You do know this is mainly an echo chamber, right? No children are listening. Any parents here have already steered their children away from the church. Why not just live and let live?

Because, you know, non Mormons should be left alone and non Mormon parents not pursued by Missionaries? Because that would be an intellectually consistent stance based on what he has said to you Rivendale.

Apologists like DCP have asserted that to cede this point is death to the Mormon religion. They point to the failure of the Community of Christ as the proof of this.

I’m not sure they’re wrong. I think if you throw away the historicity, the LDS church may indeed collapse to a fraction of what it is now. I’d love to be wrong about that though.

How does one go about proving that unfounded belief in the literal historicity of the Book of Mormon is the primary reason why the LDS Church is more successful than the Community of Christ?

Would I also be right in thinking that you do not belong to an organization that has raised up an army of fellow disbelievers to go door-to-door inviting Mormons to "discuss" with then why Mormonism is wrong? If such existed, would you accept their leaders' call to go on a self-financed mission, or senior mission? Perhaps we should all join Berean Research.

I would add that, as a former believer in Mormonism, I can still see the wisdom in the following:

Behold, I sent you out to testify and warn the people, and it becometh every man who hath been warned to warn his neighbor.

OTOH, although I have shared my views of Mormonism with several people, I don't feel compelled to go out of my way to warn everyone I meet.

I was going to hop in and add my two cents on a thread or two, but then I thought...why? I'd like to see something new or interesting to comment on but, alas, that doesn't seem to be a possibility. Why join in on a thread if it's just a rehash of a rehash?

He comes here specifically to try to disrupt conversations, distract, and provoke, but his advice TO OTHERS is 'Why not just live and let live?'
