Over at the Mormon Discussions and Dialogue board, they are insisting that the validity of Mormonism rests on muddled logic and faulty reasoning.

They didn't use to conduct apologetics in such a manner, but I suspect LDS critics have made these apologists rethink their approach: "Everything without evidence is as true as everything else, so why not Mormonism?"
Are you guys proud of yourselves for driving them bonkers?

Moksha, what you fail to understand is that their approach will win in the end.

Re: The Validity of Mormonism
It has only been a problem when viewed through a modern skeptical lens? Eber D. Howe, Issac Hales, William Law and many other contemporaries got the train rolling.Moksha wrote: ↑Mon Aug 11, 2025 5:44 amOver at the Mormon Discussions and Dialogue board, they are insisting that the validity of Mormonism rests on muddled logic and faulty reasoning.

“Joseph told me to day that [William?] "Walker" had been speaking to him concerning my having taken M[argaret] away from A[aron] and intimated that I had done wrong. I told him to be quiet and say no more about it. He also told me Emma was considerably displeased with it but says he she will soon get over it. In the agony of mind which I have endured on this subject I said I was sorry I had done it, as which Joseph told me not to say so. I finally asked him if I had done wrong in what I had done. He answered no you have a right to get all you can.”

This apparent form of avarice reminds me of some of the problems with the Law of adoption:drumdude wrote: ↑Tue Aug 12, 2025 1:13 am“Joseph told me to day that [William?] "Walker" had been speaking to him concerning my having taken M[argaret] away from A[aron] and intimated that I had done wrong. [my bolding]Law of adoption wrote:The practice fell into disrepute partly because "in a few cases it led to jealousy and conflict between sons for their adoptive father's attentions, and because it had in some other cases caused a scramble for status between potential sons seeking adoption by higher-ranking elders, and between elders by accumulating large numbers of adoptive sons."
