Who speaks for the Democrats?

Post by Chap »

Please excuse a naïve question from a UK poster. My question is this: is there at present anybody who is, at least formally, the national spokesman for the Democratic party? If so, who is it?

I ask this because in the political culture I am used to, any serious political party has a leader elected by its members, who will in all cases already be an elected Member of Parliament, and who aspires to be Prime Minister in the event of their party winning (or being able to assemble) a majority in the House of Commons at the next election. In the case of the Labour Party, Keir Starmer is its leader, and since the Labour Party won a majority of seats in the last election, he is the Prime Minister and head of the government. But there is also a leader of the Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch, who is a Member of Parliament, and is expected to be the person who speaks up for the Conservatives on the national stage as well as in Parliament. Since she is leader of the party with the largest number of seats in the House of Commons after the ruling Labour Party, she even has an official title, 'Leader of the Opposition'.

But so far as I can see, now that there is no longer a Democratic President, there is no-one whose role is to speak for the Democratic Party on the national stage. Or is there someone, but they are not very good at what they are supposed to be doing?

Currently, there is no one who truly represents the Democrat party, and that is what we are attempting to resolve.

The question at hand is whether the Democratic Party will push further left in preparation for the 2026 elections or if they will shift back toward the center to attract more votes from conservative Democrats like myself and independents who do not align with Trump's actions.

The progressive faction of the party is currently prevailing in the internal struggle within the Democratic Party. Conservative Democrats remain apprehensive about the Marxist progressives who exert significant influence over the party. I feel a deep sense of disappointment towards moderate and conservative Democrats. One lesson that Trump has imparted to every American is that the Marxist progressive narrative is fundamentally weak, it only required one individual to dismantle the stronghold of the Marxist progressive cult that has hindered America for many years.

Have you ever considered why progressives and others globally have such strong feelings against Trump? Progressives are deeply invested in collective identity, whereas Trump focuses significantly on individual identity. I frequently draw parallels between progressivism and Mormonism, as both ideologies place significant emphasis on group identity. They convey to their followers that genuine happiness is achieved within the confines of the group, while leaving that safety leads to misery and despair.

Consider this, my friend, it required just one exceptionally driven, self-assured, and bold individual to dismantle the Marxist narrative and its influence in a mere decade. If Trump had never come along, there wasn't a Republican or conservative who possessed the mental strength to confront the Marxist progressives. I don't see any moderate or conservative Democrat who could persuade the party that the Marxist ideology being promoted by the progressives is detrimental to the party. At this moment, they are all too fearful to confront the extreme Marxist directly.

We require a Democrat who embodies the qualities of Trump, yet I don't observe anyone within the party who meets that criteria. The party will continue to shift further left until Trump has completely dismantled it.

By default, it could be said that Trump's character and presence are so strong that he is the leader of the Democratic Party. He has transformed the Democratic Party more than any other member has in the past decade of his political career.

That's a good question, and I find it somewhat worrisome that I know of no definitive answer to it at this time. I would love to see Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island step up and claim that mantle. He is one of the most intelligent, knowledgeable and scientifically literate politicians I know of, and I think he could be an excellent President, but would someone from the smallest state in the union be able to acquire enough name recognition and popularity between now and 2028 to have a chance? I don't know. Gavin Newsome is well known and very articulate and knowledgeable, but he has not yet definitely thrown his hat in the ring, as far as I know. I also greatly admire Katie Porter, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jasmine Crockett, Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell. I would also happily vote for Pete Buttigieg should he manage to become the next nominee for President. He is also extremely intelligent, knowledgeable and technically and scientifically savvy, and speaks 8 languages, which is a great asset.

So please, since you're seeking enlightenment and feel you didn't receive any from my response, kindly share with us all, who on the Democrat side has transformed the party more than Donald Trump?

It's not possible as there is no one present. It seems that progressives like yourself struggle to grasp that someone like Donald Trump perceives himself as the individual whose actions will ultimately transform the Democratic Party. Are you following me, Chap?

Do you realize that Trump is not just transforming the Republican party on his own, but he is also fundamentally reshaping the essence of America by putting an end to wokeism? The American Eagle jeans advertisement serves as all the evidence required to support my argument. Two years ago, American Eagle would have offered a heartfelt apology alongside Sydney Sweeney, driven by a fear of backlash from those who wield power through intimidation, that being the Marxist progressives you seem to support.

Now that Trump has set an example, demonstrating to individuals and businesses that there is no need to fear the woke Marxist progressives, people and businesses are no longer apologizing to the adherents of the woke ideology.

The concept of "woke" has met its demise, and it can be attributed to one individual, Donald Trump. Consider Chap, the fragility and misdirection of progressivism were such that a single individual was able to unravel the whole movement!

You couldn't be more wrong. He is an absolute disaster. If his miserable performance at the Alaska summit with Putin didn't convince you of that, you suffer from severe cognitive deficiency! I agree with Chap. Your answer to his question was neither relevant nor enlightening!

My answer was not only relevant and enlightening, but it was also entirely truthful. Your disagreement holds little weight, as you have repeatedly shown that you let wokeness shape your identity, which is not a positive way to define yourself.

Your belief that Jasmine Crockett, Eric Swalwell, or Adam Schiff could win in 2028 certainly undermines your credibility as a participant in any serious discussion. The three individuals in question are complete liabilities and would likely enable the Republican candidate in 2028 to secure victory in 48 out of the 50 states during the presidential election.

Chap, I don’t interpret the Democratic Party to have had at any point in recent history a ‘spokesperson’ who all party members fall in line behind. Democrats are more of a coalition of ideological factions that differs from the sort of singular ideological fealty exhibited by Republicans in their pledge to Trump. Trump commands that loyalty not because he is a man of significant ideals or ideas, rather because he threatens to end the careers of anyone who doesn’t agree with him. Republicans like their gub’mint jobs, so they’ll do whatever Trump wants. This ends up being a circle jerk where Trump does what he wants to serve Trump, and every Republican follows along so that they don’t have to be asking people, “Would you like fries with that?” six months from now.

With Democrats, you see a bit more backbone and a better range of opinions and ideals.

If you were to make a list of the folks in the party attracting the most interest these days, it might look like this:

- Gavin Newsom (California): Gavin has been doing a bit of Trump Trolling as of late. Good for him. I don’t see him as a viable future Presidential candidate but he’s a thorn in Trump’s side.
- Josh Shapiro (Pennsylvania): Seen as possessing strong leadership skills with a knack for being able to broker deals across the aisle.
- Gretchen Whitmer (Michigan): Popular, sensible and opinionated.
- J.B. Pritzker (Illinois): Pritzker has broad appeal and has a huge personal fortune to boot, which would come in handy if he decides to run for President.
- Andy Beshear (Kentucky): Generally well-liked, also seen as sensible and having broad appeal
- Wes Moore (Maryland): Seen as one of the rising voices in the party.
- Pete Buttigieg (Former Secretary of Transportation): Buttigieg is smart as a whip and would make an excellent candidate for the Presidency, but he’d face an uphill climb given America’s general aversion to electing gay folks and/or women.
- Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (Representative, New York): everyone’s favorite progressive, she’s also heaps smarter than many of her contemporaries on the other side of the aisle.
- Bernie Sanders (Senator, Vermont): Everyone’s other favorite progressive; when he talks, Hound soils his pants.

You might note that the Republican Party, in comparison, has very few ‘leading voices’, as virtually every member of that party has either cut off their balls and handed them to Trump or fully prostituted and prostrated themselves at the alter to a convicted, sexual-abusing fraudster in order to reduce themselves to nothing more than an echo chamber of whatever word salad spills out of Donald Trump’s bronzer-greased mouth.

For me, it’s Pete, AO , and Bernie. Bernie is absolutely spot on, but for some reasons little lickspittles like our HoH canvet enough of carrying water for men who would look at him with disgust.
