The Mental Gymnast is of the opinion he "explained" what happened. As usual, all he did was cut and paste an AI response, with no sources. As usual, that can be ignored.

Back to the topic.

Anyway.......back to the topic:
It sounds like mitigation efforts were in place, but they ended right where the houses were protected and the meetinghouse was not. Many people apparently voiced concerns that exactly this type of flooding would occur, exactly where it did.
Again, I think you nailed it as far as is within the scope of a narrow lens.

Looking at the past helps us understand the present for one thing.
Fibber, did you really write that?

Do you have a substantive response?

Reported the constant pejorative of the word "fibber" being used in most posts. Unnecessary.

Yes, Fibber did say that.

It’s interesting that the one investigator here, Liminor, said that after reading Fibber’s posts, he only feels “pity” for him.

That’s some great missionary work.

[MODERATOR NOTE: The nickname "fibber" is a personal attack, however mild. I don't suppose I can convince the two of you to heavily cut back on its use, can I?]

There was a long-running radio show from the 1930s to the 1950s called Fibber McGee and Molly. It even had a spinoff called The Great Gildersleeve.

As philosopher George Santayana reminded us, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” We can always fall victim to hustlers, whether in religion or the White House.

I, for one, would prefer to relive the 90's and 00's (be condemned to repeat them) compared to what we have today and have had for about the last 10 years.
