by the way, the allusion to Laura Loomer being Satan in the last episode was brilliant. They didn't even have to mention her name.

What are Christians to make of this season’s South Park?
I read this Baptist News article and was surprised to find myself agreeing with all of it. There are still actual Christians out there.

This was so brilliantly written! I appreciate that she recalls how Jesus harshly critized the politically tied religious leaders of the Sanhedrin and calls for Christians to STAND UP. That's why I started that one thread I wrote not so long ago, to step out and take my own stand right here on MDB. What I see happening is so anti-Christianity!Some Schmo wrote: ↑Fri Sep 05, 2025 6:54 pmWhat are Christians to make of this season’s South Park?

And this right here.
I could have easily written that myself.I was drawn to the show’s total irreverence and its willingness to say and do anything. It was raunchy and funny and called out the hypocrisy and insanity of the culture at-large.
And this.
Yep, me too! And while I know many Christian believers would recoil at their first viewing of South Park, I say give it a chance and you'll see that there's something there for you if you believe living on a collection of principles.I honestly didn’t even know the cartoon was still around until a few weeks ago when it landed in our current cultural swamp like a big, naked cannon ball.
Folks, and you know who you are, read this. THIS is what we're called to do. Follow the example of Jesus that you see presented in scripture. Think on that. Analyze that. Compare what you're seeing on the political scene to what you see in scripture.
I often write about the need for Christians — actual Bible-reading, churchgoing, Christian-virtue-ethics-living Christians — to stand in this moment against the unholy, blasphemous and heretical version of Christianfascism that is being used by MAGA Republicans as a cudgel to force compliance with their theocratic aspirations.
Would Yeshua instruct you to disappear and deport immigrants? HE was an immigrant himself!
Would he instruct you to TAKE food from the hungry? He FED the hungry.
Would he tell you to make sick and disabled folks sicker and suffer? He HEALED them.
Would he amass personal fortune? He HAD no money and called it "filthy lucre".
Would he build guilded mansions for himself on earth where moth and rust decay all things material?
I'm winging all of the above but you get the idea. I encourage you to THINK HARD on his example, what he was about and what you are about. What he still IS about.
Are you following Trump or your Savior?
Whose voice are you listening to? Trump or that of Yeshua?
Do you put your faith in God or man?
Backstory: I started watching South Park 14 years ago when there was a traumatic and violent death in our family. A death that was witnessed by one of our own. Binge watching South Park (Harry Potter and Jersey Shore) was a huge part of their healing process. Not because we needed a good laugh but because when our world came crashing down, they were still there. I watched them the whole time with my loved one. Every single day and night. Then we did it on and off for 5 years.
On first viewing I thought South Park was absolutely disgusting and horrifying. As I watched continuous episodes, what they were doing started to sink in.
There's actually 2 more Christians in our family whom you would never expect to start watching South Park...but they are. That cannon ball got their attention. One of them is my "The Chosen" buddy, a series that we both follow.
South Park is for everyone. Give it a try. And thank you, Schmo. Thank you!!!

Re: South Park Creators Have More Balls Than All of GOP
A long time ago Trey Parker in an interview was asked about politics. He said something to the effect of, they hate liberals and conservatives both, but they really hate liberals. There is no question that their small-town molded minds were biased against liberals for the greater part of their careers. They've probably explored the predictable (but real) theme of intolerance by tolerance more than anybody else. Because of how crass they are, there is no question that A-Mike/Hound and Binger were both South Park fans at one point. I was a fan from the beginning, although it took a few episodes before I could get through the bathroom humor and see the greater truth. Interesting how things change. Anyone with at least room-temperature intelligence and a sense of humor would be hard pressed to keep that conservative bias going as conservativism began to bear out its worst beginning with the Tea Party movement. And I don't just mean evil, but leaving themselves wide open to be made fun of. As H pointed out a while back, in today's version of conservativism, there is no such thing as humor. There literally are no funny conservatives on the earth today.

I think the fact that some MAGA folk have decided consciously to alter the New Testament and Jesus to fit their worldview is extremely telling. There is at least a kind of honesty in them recognizing that they are constructing a god to fit their views, not molding their views in line with the God of the New Testament. No, MAGA Christians are at best heretics. At worst they are not Christian at all. I challenge any Christian to square their political choices with the God of the Bible in traditional Christianity.Jersey Girl wrote: ↑Fri Sep 05, 2025 9:40 pmWould Yeshua instruct you to disappear and deport immigrants? I doubt most of them have actually read the Bible.Kishkumen wrote: ↑Sat Sep 06, 2025 5:35 pmI think the fact that some MAGA folk have decided consciously to alter the New Testament and Jesus to fit their worldview is extremely telling. Because, you know, that involves reading.

My favorite new South Park character is good ol' JD.

I think their depiction of him matches his personality perfectly.

I wonder how many people are familiar with the Fantasy Island reference. What's funny is that knowing it is unnecessary. JD Vance fits the Tattoo character (especially with the lisp and fat tongue always protruding - it's chef's kiss). If anything, it's an insult to the original Fantasy Island actor Hervé Jean-Pierre Villechaize.
