The tension existed. That does not excuse what some may have seen as retribution.

Will the Fanchers be rewarded for providing opposition in all things after they were innocently slaughtered?
There have been so many 'innocents' slaughtered throughout human history it is almost impossible to wrap our minds around how God will 'make it all right'.
Dodging the question. Typical MG 2.0 maneuver.
I'm not dodging. It's a fact, many innocent people have been slaughtered throughout human history as a result of misunderstandings and built up tensions.
You didn't answer me. Will the Fanchers be rewarded for having their free will taken away so that opposition in all things is preserved?
I would hope that in whatever 'compensation plan' is part of the eternal judgement that all of the innocents that have been slaughtered and had their lives taken away will receive just renumeration. And truthfully, the only way I can see that happening is thorough the merits and grace of Jesus Christ and His Atonement which will 'cover' all the harms and injustices that have occurred in this fallen world.
So the Fanchers were essentially killed by God's plan? God created the system allowing free will and opposition in all things. In fact opposition is mandatory. The Saints at MMM were carrying out the plan that was a instituted as a necessary template before the creation of the world. Correct?MG 2.0 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 19, 2025 4:20 pmI would hope that in whatever 'compensation plan' is part of the eternal judgement that all of the innocents that have been slaughtered and had their lives taken away will receive just renumeration. I hope the Fanchers and all other innocents throughout the history of the world that have moved on to the other side of the veil are figuratively/literally in the arms of their Creator and are in a good place.
I think the perpetrators of the crime will be judged according to God's will and Christ's mercy according to their own knowledge and willfull wrongdoing in this unfortunate event in LDS history.

I know - it's so sad when someone quotes what you actually did say, and then asks you to clarify, or to justify, your own words.MG 2.0 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 19, 2025 3:17 pmI don't think you folks are actually reading what I'm posting. You wrote: "Through the fog of history some of what we have, granted, is rumor that may or may not be the full truth although it may be partial truth. This is one of those instances. Many members of the Fancher party were from Arkansas, a state where Mormons had faced violent persecution in the past. This fact, whether true or not, fueled existing fears and a sense of animosity. Some rumors even claimed that the party included individuals who had been involved in the murder of Mormon apostle Parley P. Pratt."
You're not suggesting, are you, that many members of the Fancher party being from Arkansas, a state where Mormons had faced violent persecution in the past, was some kind of justification for the murder of almost the entire party, right?
Or that rumors that the party included individuals who had been involved in the murder of Mormon apostle Parley P. Pratt justified murdering anyone, never mind any person, man, woman, or child, who had not been involved in the PPP murder?
Hypothetical: do you suppose that those who carried out the attack thought to pray about it first?
I think you might want to find another person to push around. Oh, I'm the only one here to smack on the side of the head. I almost forgot.![]()
