I think it might depend on the mental construct. Does evil describe a person, the actions of a person, or both? I can wrap my brain around labeling certain acts as being so far removed from acceptability that we condemn them by calling them evil.

To me, the problem is not just deciding who to label as people, but the worldview that sees evil as a necessity. If evil is necessary, then so is labeling people as evil. The danger is in dehumanizing others to the extent that they are viewed as less than human. The extreme consequences are shown by the cult of Chad and Lori or the Lafferty brothers.
For a posse that can't agree on the definition of a woman or a cult, I can see how evil is confusing and problematic.
That probably explains your confusion. Neither you nor the Hound account can explain what a woman is.

I can set up a thread for you to repeatedly dodge the question, though.

Exactly.

Now add in what to do with people labeled ‘evil’ by people in power who arbitrarily decided that they were ‘evil’.
If only there were historical examples that we could learn from.
Is "fascism" evil? I mean, you glory in labeling people with that arbitrarily.

No. It’s what you do with fascism that could be ‘evil’.

Again, this is simple stuff.

Another article says he called Mormonism the "Anti-Christ", referencing the conversation with the city council guy. The two are quite related. If the perpetrator were to have a conversation with my right-wing friend they would agree on everything. My friend doesn't call Mormonism the anti-Christ directly to me, and I'm thinking he doesn't go that far, but if he's in a conversation with somebody else who is "going there", he's going to fan the flames and pat the guy on the back for it and laugh his head off. To be fair, most anti-Mormon EVs who do believe Mormonism is a Satanic cult aren't a threat. Some force themselves to invite you to dinner or give you free dental work, as happened to me. I mean, this kind of "being the bigger Christian" to those you deem your enemies is kind of positive, even if misguided. Well, this was a long time ago, not sure that happens much anymore.

But, all the main threads are right there in right-wing Christian gun culture to lead to exactly this. I don't think anyone thought upon hearing about the event that the perpetrator would be anything but an unhinged right-winger. Now, remove a couple of factors, and would he have made this decision? Probably not. I give it minimum 50% odds that he'd never had done this if the political murder the other week didn't happen, and if he didn't get stiffed by a Mormon girl when he was in Utah.

ceeboo, if ever you make any sense of this, let me know.
Letting you know.

You are witnessing a refusal (intentional or not) - a distraction (intentional or not) - a potential option (intentional or not) - a cover (intentional or not) - excuses (intentional or not) -------------- To see what is plainly in sight. Evil.

My thoughts are 100% with the many victims of this horrific evil and I make no apologies for the dehumanized victim cold blooded murderer.

Obvious, to you. What you cannot know is whether a call from his wife or his mother to get him mental health treatment could have saved all those innocent people and him as well. Why isn’t turning one’s back on the next potential murder and his victims evil?

Are you looking for my internal mechanism to judge the most crazy/least tolerable cults to the stupid yet relatively harmless cults?

Or are you just saying words?
You obviously don't like the MAGA one. Sounds like you dislike cults in general. Maybe you have one that you like and dislike all the rest. I don't think MAGA is any more of a cult than the democrats. At the extreme, they are exactly the same damn thing. Nobody has shown an ounce of difference in cultiness and authority preference. They just like different outcomes from their preferred cultiness and authority.
Let me know where the Blue hats and Biden flags are for me to adorn my pick up truck will ya?

(by the way, I'm a registered Independent)

I have seen the "cultiness" of Amway, Democrats, MAGA, Mormons, FLDS, Saladmaster, Beachbody, Lululemon, etc.

A true-blue MAGA takes the cake...maybe second only to FLDS.

But that's fine. Keep trying to pigeon-hole everyone that isn't lockstep with MAGA as confused liberal Democrats. I don't know if your worldview could survive if that comfort blanket was pulled out from under you.
