I do not call myself a Christian because I don't believe anyone is actually divine.

However, I do know what teachings are attributed to the Jesus character, and MAGAtes don't act like they care about any of that stuff. Again, they call themselves Christian to bypass actually having to be a good person because they think others are fooled by the label like they are.

MAGA Christians are basically self-deluded liars. They do not practice what they annoyingly and hypocritically preach. If anything, they provide a perfect example of what not to be from an ethical and moral standpoint. I don't ever remember Jesus saying, "Be a selfish, ignorant prick" yet that's the standard by which they live.
Religion is for people whose existential fear is greater than their common sense. It's also the favored cover for hypocrites.

The god idea is popular with desperate people.

There are lots of evangelicals out there who give me hope. They just don’t shout as loud.
We need lots more Christians like James Talarico in government.
AUSTIN, Texas —The representative and aspiring preacher hadn’t planned to deliver a sermon when he went to work at the state capitol that morning.

Sitting in a drab committee room last month, Texas Rep. James Talarico, among the youngest members of the statehouse now at 34, was slowly getting fed up as he sat through a hearing for a bill that would mandate putting the Ten Commandments in every public school classroom in the state. A week prior, he’d sat through a committee hearing on a bill that would allow chaplains to replace guidance counselors. He was already dreading another floor debate scheduled for later in the day for a bill denying gender-affirming health care. So by the time the Ten Commandments came up that morning, Talarico had had it.

He looked squarely at the bill’s sponsor, state Rep. Candy Noble, whom he acknowledged as a fellow “devout Christian,” before letting loose a two-minute and nine-second exchange that would go viral on TikTok and Twitter, racking up more than 1 million views on Twitter alone.

“This bill to me is not only unconstitutional, it’s not only un-American, I think it is also deeply un-Christian,” he told her, as she stood motionless. “And I say that because I believe this bill is idolatrous. I believe it is exclusionary. And I believe that it is arrogant, and those three things, in my reading of the Gospel, are diametrically opposed to the teachings of Jesus.” He cited Matthew 6:5, in which Jesus urges his disciples to not pray publicly like the hypocrites.

Six days later, he went viral again for calling out Texas lawmakers after a mass shooting in Allen, Texas, that left eight dead. “There is something profoundly cynical about asking God to solve a problem that we’re not willing to solve ourselves,” he said on the house floor.

David Axelrod, the veteran Democratic strategist, praised Talarico on Twitter. “WATCH THIS:” California Gov. Gavin Newsom tweeted. “Preach,” former Education Secretary Arne Duncan cheered. After both videos went viral, he received 12,000 calls and emails in a week’s time, a volume that would typically be closer to 300.

“The thing that warms my heart the most,” he told me, “is people who say, ‘I’m an atheist, agnostic, or I left the church or I left religion. But this is the kind of Christianity I can believe in.’”
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Talarico is a real gem. I wish there were a lot more folks like him out there.

Kinzinger holds forth. Video short. And I say outright, in the name of Jesus the Christ. Amen!

Just heard a youtube report about Trump single handedly ending the war in Gaza (to the effect) that mainstream media is "singing Trump's praises" and calling him the "President of peace".

Read that again until the underlying manipulation sinks in.

According to scripture there will NEVER be peace in the Middle East until Christ Jesus returns again and then whose praises will be singing??

Wake up, Christian Nationals. Put your mind in the Word. And ask yourself this and ask yourself every day.

Whose voice are you listening to?

(This is a president who has subjected his own country to 10 months of chaos, fear, and destruction.)

Some folks are destined to never realize what is going on in this country until it actually hits home for them. So be it.

For Christians and I guess non-Christians, here's a link if you're interested in buying a Trump Bible!

Kishkumen is wrong, Trump is not an anti-Christ!

I don't get the connection. You claim that Trump's desire to sell Bibles is evidence that he is not an anti-Christ?

It’s evidence, at least, of being a complete grifter.

Even Biblical anti-christs didn’t take so many chances to fleece their followers.
