Kish, while this is not a question asked of me. I am curious how this fits in your view, one that I seem to align with.
This is more serious than a minor getting a tattoo or fixing a funky ear. I draw the ethical line at no for minors, with or without parental consent. It, can, wait.
This is definitely more serious than a minor getting a tattoo or minor plastic surgery. My first impression is that I do not mess with other families' decisions about their internal affairs, so to speak. After that, I think that there should be a high bar for making a decision that has huge, permanent consequences. Lastly, I am loath to place an absolute ban on things.
So, we are probably not on exactly the same page, but this is one place where I differ from many people who are actually Progressives, not just Hound Progressives.
Thanks man.
I don't think you are an outlier among progressives. Just my hunch. I think the noise is great on this topic but in actuality, most land where you land.

What if the child is mutilated by a gun while they are in a school? Should we do something about that?
Yes indeed. If I recall correctly, the thing we must do is to send lots of thoughts and prayers. and maybe worry about mental health a bit.
But we should do NOTHING do make it harder for anybody to get hold of powerful firearms. Remember what Charlie Kirk told us? If keeping our 2nd amendment rights costs a few lives, it is worth the price.

I am not a Progressive, but thanks.

My bad. The point was that your position seems different from the progressive noise. And refreshingly so.

I’m an actual progressive, and I think our opinions are pretty similar.

Thanks, Res.
I respect the no absolute ban line. Absolute anything is very triggering on many levels.
I met, with Carol Lynn Pearson actually, some intersex advocates. There is one example where, perhaps, my absolute hard line as written would be out of line and uninformed.
So. I can listen on this. Though feeling fairly firm on most aspects.

Thank you, RI. I tend to think of you as a unique person, not conforming to a label, but I know you consider yourself a Progressive. If I recall correctly, your views are much closer to Progressive than mine, but I also think your Progressivism is rooted in careful, practical thinking.

So far, the only outlier seems to be the OP, which presumably suggests that there must be an absolute and total ban on gender-affirming care. Everyone else who has offered an opinion states that surgery should wait until the age of consent, but that this guideline should not be absolute.
