I don't know that there is any kind of Progressive agenda to push people into gender-affirming care, but there is, I think, a serious issue in being wary about what is financially incentivized. Create an incentive through financial reward, and you will create an industry of providers who are going to seek to make money by that means. We see it all the time in things we readily and happily tear apart, such as phony psychological therapies offered by LDS therapists (Jodi Hildebrandt), or recovered memory therapy, etc. In some ways, when it comes to the human psyche, we are still in mysterious territory, and it is difficult, when there is money to be made, to forbid things that someone is eager to make money off of and others believe they need so that they can feel relief from their emotional pain.
Whether the motives are political, financial, ideological, woke AFical or inclusion in a group, there has to be some of each for the social contagion to really catch on. I doubt anyone caught the trans because of one single factor.

Aha. So, not a ‘progressive’ agenda so much as a capitalist one. o_O
I think that economic incentives do need to be factored into the equation. It would be silly not to do so. We can't assume that our medical-industrial complex is doing things purely out of the goodness of their hearts. We don't believe that to be the case in other aspects of medicine, so why would we assume it to be so here?

Yeah, I don't know that "caught" is a useful metaphor. You don't "catch" trans like the common cold.

Can someone legitimately be trans or is it all just propaganda?

Well, that settles it. I'm going to start identifying as a billionaire.

No, he just hasn't had the operation yet that puts billions in his bank account.
Religion is for people whose existential fear is greater than their common sense. It's also the favored cover for hypocrites.

The god idea is popular with desperate people.

It’s too soon to joke about trans ops. You can joke about a lot of things, but not addadictomies.
