How about let's go against the oligarchs that run both parties and push us into silly, stupid "issues" that don't matter. The military budget, the worship of a tiny middle eastern country, the endless wars that benefit the oligarchs, the surveillance state, etc., these are the real issues that both parties push to our detriment. How about protesting against that? Do we want free speech curtailed because a certain country doesn't like bad press from their genocide? Do we want speech suppressed because a certain group doesn't want to take an experimental substance? Sure Trump bad. He murder Venezuelans, Iranians, in it for himself. He controlled by a certain country and its billionaire supporters. Thank you Las Vegas casino billionaire wife. But, demo just as bad. Biden look other way so genocide can go forward. Harris too drunk to convince people to reject used car salesman. It looks like another oligarch win because the supposed opposition never really attacks the castle, as always. Divide, divert attention, and rule.

No kings oligarchs.
You could be smart if you weren't so profoundly dumb.

How do oligarchs have power without the GOP? Seriously, pay attention to all the bread crumbs, not just the ones you think are fresh.
The GOP did not make the oligarchs. Sometimes it feels like we are all back in church or the temple again the way you talk about satan and the abominable church.

It says something that the Nation needed to be persuaded by anyone else to reject the used car salesman.

Good luck convincing them to reject the billionaires that those same people think they can also be if they just put in an extra 5 hours per week.

I don't think "used car salesmen" hits the mark. More like class clown. Harris was the hall monitor. American culture celebrates the class clown. It's the theme of nearly every 80s movie. Being hall monitor is uncool. Class clowns can't fail. If he craps on the chalkboard, he wins. If he falls on his face and looks like an idiot, it's still funny, we root for the underdog, and so he wins more.

But, I'll tell you this, if we do collapse into authoritarianism, the show won't last much longer. It's too unstable. America isn't going to fight a war with China under Hegseth. Stephen Miran is a good indication of what the future leaders will be like. The Christian Nationalism push will also fail, we won't be united per se, but there will be too much to deal with externally to worry about forcing everyone to be Christian. The oligarchy will be secure, and the leadership will slowly drift left to reflect China.

Trump is an asshole. He is also a piece of crap. He is an asshole at the core. Clown metaphors are a straw man or something.

As usual, here comes the authoritarianism bogey bogus BS. As usual, it gets thrown around without anyone but me pointing to any issue where the left and right or D and R prefer that the feds not dictate a decision. So blah blah blah file it under Nazi antivax blah whatever. A war with China? Hypothetical. Christian Nationalism push is no stronger or less ethical than an anti-Christian anti-American push. Same same, different shirt. And Oligarchy? Uh, which one? The Soros one? The Wall Street one? Which Oligarchy is spectacular and which one ain't?

Yeah. We ain't prisoners of the King or Queen. We have a President and people who don't like him are free to express their disdain. See Schmo.

You seem to be ignoring the many times Supreme Court has rolled over and let Trump do whatever the eff he wants in ways that are shocking to a lot of people. I find it hard to believe that you can't see Trump acting more autocratically than other recent past presidents. The way he has just asserted the right to run rampant through the various departments in the government and tear things apart, including letting Elon Musk and his DOGE bros take our information with impunity. You appear to me to exhibit a Dr Exiled-level whataboutism that is not backed up by the events unfolding. Trump simply is pushing the envelope on executive power in dangerous and lawless ways. You call it "being an asshole," but the significance goes way beyond that.

I am not ignoring anything. But cool assumption.

This is not about my whataboutism. Though, also a cool assumption.

How about we do this? Be specific. For example, Trump used executive orders and pardons, is that unique to Trump? Trump enforced immigration laws, is that unique to Trump? Why don't you support your assertion that Trump is pushing the envelope with your own example of how Trump did it but nobody else has done it.

I stand by my position - nothing is different between the left and right and democrats and republicans when it comes to authority and whether the feds step in or step out. The exceptions I offer are abortion and the federal dep of education. The outcome sure seems to bother the aligned ideologues.

It is like this. Biden used his authority to whatever the hell at the border and with immigration, and we liked the outcome. So that is good. Trump used his authority to stall immigration and get illegal folks out of here, and we hate that, so that is authoritarianism. What am I missing here?

Strange, I don't remember that happening, I DO recall the current president using his cult like status in the Republican party to stop any kind of immigration reform. How convenient for you to forget that little detail.
