This presents a quandary. What if one of the candidates lies about how much he lies? Does that count towards his ‘best’ score?huckelberry wrote: ↑Tue Oct 21, 2025 5:34 pmI heard that politicians lie. Would one not figure that the man who lies the most is the best politician?

“F”, MAGAtes are stupid. You have to point out the difference between criticizing and condoning lies since they don't seem to have a grasp of it on their own.

I am not about to accept the notion that the best politician is the one who lies the most or tells the most outrageous lies. I will always try my best to identify politicians who have the best-established record of veracity. For example, politicians like James Talarico.
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Pretty sure huck was joking there.

Knowing huck's posting history, I never had any doubt of that! My comment was not really aimed at him. I know him to be one of the most reasonable and decent posters here! In a sane world, the most honest and respectful politicians ought to be the most easily electable. This should absolutely preclude pathologically lying bigots and would-be tyrants like Trump from ever being elected.

Don't go to the useless effort of proving to me what I already know! What have I said to lead you think that I am stupid enough to think that no politicians have ever been the subject of a lie?Whiskey wrote: ↑Tue Oct 21, 2025 3:58 pmWell, son of a bitch. I mean. If you're saying a politician lied, well, we better do something! Gunner, did you know that a politician could lie and stuff? That must really rock your foundation. Some Schmo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 21, 2025 2:15 pm
His idiot fans do the same, so whether they pay attention or not, they condone it.
I am going to do some research for you and see if politicians have ever been the subject of a lie. How would you like me to report that information back for you?

So it is possible that someone has lied about a politician? The hell you say. The way you was carrying on, led me to believe that no politician has ever been lied about and no politician you have ever voted for has ever lied.Gunnar wrote: ↑Tue Oct 21, 2025 9:01 pmDon't go to the useless effort of proving to me what I already know! Why would you believe that? Just constructing another straw man to argue over?

The lie that climate change is a hoax is one of the stupidest and potentially most dangerous lies I know of. Close to 99% of climate scientists agree about its reality. I trust science and scientists far more than I do politicians, even more so than the politicians I most respect. One of my very best internet friends is a recently retired PhD scientist who taught and researched climate and environmental change at Stanford University and how to mitigate it. He is not a wealthy man! He could easily have become immensely wealthy if, like Wei Hock Soon, he accepted millions of dollars in research grants from fossil fuel companies in attempts to "debunk" the reality of anthropomorphic climate change.Whiskey wrote: ↑Tue Oct 21, 2025 5:44 pmNow we're talking.huckelberry wrote: ↑Tue Oct 21, 2025 5:34 pm

But just for fun, please do fill us in on the politician that ain't none lied none damned ever and let's all vote for they. Clearly those WMD folks are ineligible. But the climate hoax people are eligible.
This friend of mine is the most intelligent, yet humble and compassionate man I know. He unhesitatingly offered to host me and my wife and down's syndrome daughter at his house for dinner and an overnight stay for me while my wife was staying overnight at Stanford University hospital with my daughter who was there for a sleep study, that determined that she needed a c-pap machine at night. The next day he gave me a tour of the Stanford campus and showed me the projects he was working on with his PhD candidate students to better understand the reality of climate and environmental change and how best to mitigate it. His work and research are very valuable and convincing. So don't you dare try to imply that he is a fraud doing it just for the money! One of his projects was designing a water treatment plant that purifies wastewater to the point that it is cleaner than it was when it came out of the tap, while powering itself using the oxides of Nitrogen found in that wastewater, with enough power left over to send to the electrical grid.
There is no doubt that he knows far more about the reality of anthropomorphic climate and environmental change than you or Trump or any other conservative politician who ignorantly thinks climate change is just a hoax!

Of course that's what he's doing! Nothing could be more obvious!
