And for the record, my son was very young when we stopped attending so serving a mission was never in the cards. He barely remembers anything about the church. And no, he isn't addicted to anything, not even video games. (I probably play more than he does).
I may have been unkind in my response. I'm sorry. I don't know you or your family and should not have made any type of judgement in this regard.
Dang! I'm human! Sometimes I will say something 'off the cuff'.
I do agree with the fact, more or less, that young men and women (boys and girls) are not aware (in many cases) of some of the troubling issues in church history, science and religion, etc.
You are kind to not burst or interfere with their seedling testimonies. But it is true...they are simply out to teach those that are willing and prepared to hear the gospel.

Yet it was a mountain after all! Try not to be so defensive when you are called out on an inappropriate comment.

I don't think it was a mountain on my part. More of a failure to completely explain myself in the moment. But a LOT of pushback!

Another lie from the mentalgymnast. His go-to is to passive-aggressively insult, disparage and degrade anyone he thinks believes differently than he does. It is not possible for it to be an 'off the cuff' judgment when he does it so regularly and consistently. He uses the worst attributes of Mormonism as a tool to troll.

No worries dude. I didn't take offense to the comment as I've learned over the years that many times what we intend to say does not come across in the words we use to type. So hard to get nuance and tone right in text.

Yes it is. Thanks for your understanding.

Maybe listen to feedback about your behaviour a bit quicker next time. And learn to behave better when interacting. You can be better.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.
The move to allow the ladies to go out at 19 just confirmed this.

My takeaway is that your son apparently would not be ready/willing to serve a mission for more reasons than one.

Perhaps Black Moclips is very protective and will not let local members shame his son into a situation where he needs to lie to please people he may interact with only a few minutes each week, or maybe not interact physically at all, only electronically. Maybe his son sees it clearly. Maybe the LDS legacy is something young people are seeing, and like a runner waiting for the younger generation to take the baton and run, he shakes his head and says no, that’s your race, not mine.
Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.
