Well, this doesn’t bode well, if the two fellows who wrote a book about 4 dysfunctional personality types can’t escape the dysfunction that they’re writing about.

No it doesn't. It casts quite a doubt over their speeches about who posts 'honestly' as well.

That sounds harsh, but anyone with a functioning brain can see the point. The real problem isn’t the profanity. It is the lie. It is me assigning a belief to an entire group that no individual actually expressed. And certainly no individual on this forum who qualifies as a Kamala-voter has expressed. That is the harm, not the f-word, K-word or w-word.

Now take it further. What if I said that “Poster A thinks Poster B is a pedophile,” or that “Poster A wants Santa to be a practicing pedophile this Christmas,” or that “Poster A supports racism,” or that “Poster A endorses abuse.” There is no profanity in any of that. No f-word. No c-word. Perfectly clean language. And yet it is obviously worse by any standard. Everyone knows that. And yet, particularly on this board, those kinds of insults and lies are just normal conversation as long as the insults are moving from left to right.

People pretending profanity is the crisis are perfectly fine when moderators allow, and the old liberal guard assigns, disgusting motives, offensive beliefs, or fabricated thoughts to anyone they disagree with. They treat those lies as normal debate. They treat their own unclear clairvoyance as legitimate and factual. They invent an unreal version of reality, attack it, congratulate themselves, and then pretend the profanity in the reply is the problem. And make no mistake, the disgust or concern for profanity is feigned AF when it is coming from a goddamn damned liar.

Profanity is not the harm. Vulgarity is not the harm. The real damage is the constant assignment of false motives and fabricated beliefs to other posters so they can knock down the caricature they created. That is what corrodes the board. That is what derails threads. That is what creates the confrontations. If you are still hung up on the word ““F”” while ignoring the fact that people here routinely assign fake motives, fake beliefs, and fake intentions to other posters based purely on their own imaginary clairvoyance, then you are missing the entire point. The problem isn’t profanity. The problem is this leftover Mormon Priesthood habit of pretending to have a seer gift that reveals what another person “really” thinks even when they do not think it at all. That is the actual corruption. That is the real dishonesty. And that is what blows up conversations far more than any damned vulgar word ever could.

I haven’t seen anyone on this board proclaim profanity as the crisis … of anything.

Reigning in or limiting profanity is just a reflection of adult social norms and recognizes the expressed preference of the board’s proprietor.
