CFP: B****, Moan, Predict and Fix

Post by Whiskey »

Bitch:

Notre Dame, Ole Miss and Oregon do not belong in the CFP. They did not win their conference (ND doesn't even have one). They were not even eligible for conference championships, why the hell should they be eligible for a National championship? Any team that played 7 home games and 5 road games should not be considered to have played a strong schedule. And, teams like Miami and Ole miss that played 8 home games and 4 road games should not be eligible for post season games, including the playoffs.

Moan:

I am so sick of Georgia, Alabama and Oregon. I won't watch their games unless they are playing the Maxim Chicks or something interesting.

Predict:

Duke won't be included.
Alabama in, BYU out
Oregon in, BYU out
Notre Dame in, BYU out
Texas out and that is NUTS! Texas played OSU and beat A&M like a drum.

Fix:

College Football needs to get rid of the CFP committee. They are like the panny's of college football. No point in having them except to stir crap up. Instead, all tie breakers should be quantified and determined before the season starts. After ten quantifiable tiebreakers - coin toss it.

Top 4 Conferences send their top 2 teams, Every other Conference sends one team. Independents have to pick a conference before the season starts to determine tie breakers and standing. That is it. The end. No committee needed.

Hooch,

You do know that before you posted your predictions, the CFP schedule was already out?

Wrong. Very very very wrong.

But sure. Be wrong and post about me not the topic. Got anything to add?

Only, that was never on the table.

JMU was a conference champ. Same with Tulane. It was JMU or Duke.

I think all sports should be done the way Sumo wrestling is done. In a tournament, each wrestler wrestles each other wrestler one time. The athlete with the most wins is the winner. Ties are broken by the tied athletes wrestling each other until there are no ties.

Shades, I admit that I thought you were going to end this comment somewhat differently.

I like this idea.

I looked at the stats behind the bracket, and in my opinion the bracket was based exclusively on ap ranking and/or size of conference. Teams were chosen from the largest 6 out of 11 conferences, always including winners of the conference. The only time a top 12 ap ranked team didn't get chosen was when they had to chose a team from the 5th and 6th largest conferences, in which case they picked the conference winner. That's why JMU booted ND, and why Tulane booted BYU.

Maybe this is obvious to football followers, but I thought the stats were pretty interesting. in my opinion, this theory of choice renders the controversial choices completely predictable. Still vastly irritating to those basing choices on skill and history, in my opinion, but predictable.
