The thing is, Christian or not, what exactly does someone like Drumdude expect out of Christians? Are Christians obligated to go along with the degrading of their own neighborhoods? I never saw that anywhere in the Christians/Mormon scriptures. I'm not a Christian and no friend of the Mormon religion (I generally have no problem with Mormon people), but he's just being a doosh.

False premise and begging the question alert!

1) ^ assumes a warming center automatically “degrades” a neighborhood. The assumption is not settled fact. That’s what’s in dispute. Couldn’t the center have the opposite effect, ie, less deaths, fewer ER visits, less camping, etc?

Anyone looking up the Kaysville location will be able to see that it’s in an industrial area, and adjacent to the freeway, which makes it a great consideration from an access standpoint. If you meander far enough away from the site you’ll encounter a residential area to the west, but it’s tough to find areas in Davis County that aren’t bordered by houses but that would be easily accessible by the homeless when needed.

A great site would have been along the County’s southern border; it would then also be accessible to the homeless population in Salt Lake City and could be within easy walking distance from the encampments that have dotted Victory for years.

Speaking of Jesus's day, it's amazing how things have deteriorated. I remember as a kid being torn by the leper colony scene in the movie Ben-Hur. How terrible it would have been to have leprosy and get sent to a such a place. And then torn over how difficult it would be to minister to such a place. But boy, they didn't anticipate MG, did they? I can just picture MG watching that movie for the first time and getting bent out of shape because -- whose backyard was the leper colony in? They shouldn't even have had it in the first place! Wherever it gets put, there will be somebody with small children who will be closer to it than anybody else with small children, and it's not fair to them. What if one of the lepers were to escape and give leprosy to one of those kids? From that perspective, MG would have rightfully been angry at Jesus ministering to the lepers because it legitimized the colony.
