But first he'd step out from his Ford F-250 highboy with a red interior and take off his red hat. Then spit out his wad of Copenhagen. And then he'd mock me and punch me in the mouth. And in doing so, he'd be exactly the kind of Jesus I already told you that you believe in, yet you objected. You objected, and then you describe Jesus behaving exactly as I said you believe he does.

Right -- you attempt a lot of mileage from two rhetorical ploys. One is the fallacy of over-precision, and the other is radical skepticism. If I read a page from the Mormon gospel doctrine manual on helping the poor, I can't represent the page in itself, it must be filtered by my mind. And in that way, you can accuse me of "deciding" the meaning of the page and I can't really object to that.

Long thread to diss some Kaysville residents and by implication the LDS church and/or the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

A little something to think about this Christmas.

19 For behold, are we not all beggars? Do we not all depend upon the same Being, even God, for all the substance which we have, for both food and raiment, and for gold, and for silver, and for all the riches which we have of every kind?

This is why he introduced ’WWJD’ as a makeshift cudgel but also can’t answer the question he’s trying to weaponize.

That cudgel appears to have slipped out of his hand and hit his head.

Not exactly.

What I am saying is that you seem to know WWJD and what someone from Kaysville thinks WWJD, and you are right. That is more what I am saying. And wow, you must be amazing.

I’m trying to fill the vacuum where your content contribution should be. All I’m seeing is your anger issues being splattered across the board in what looks like a desperate cry for attention.
Let me help you.
I’m not convinced you’re capable of even helping yourself.
I am not angry. Not even a little bit. If that is what you are seeing, ask yourself why.
Because you’re angry.
Don't take the bait and believe the ditships saying I am angry.
Why are you so mad Bro?
I doubt you can point to a single post that suggests anger. Not one.
This post also seems to have been generated by your anger.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

Oh. Cute. Histrionic. But cute.

Now. See how that works?

Care to provide any example of anger, bro? Or you just gonna run with your conclusion not based on facts while writing about me and not the topic?

Your impression is obviously way off. Kaysville is 75 - 80% Mormon and a good number of the 20-25% are other Christians. I know what the Mormon religion teaches WWJD and what Christianity from Catholicism to Pentecostalism teaches WWJD. In fact, one of the local Christian churches tried to sponsor the warming center themselves and the people of Kaysville came after them with pitchforks and so they dropped their plans.

I personally have no idea what Jesus would do. I think the New Testament is whitewashed, like, many of the more noble beatitudes are interpolations. We don't have a great sample of what Jesus did, only a few situations that could be cherry picked or totally invented. And then extrapolating those to modern concerns is another problem.

Therefore, it would be fair to say that I think I know what the people of Kaysville think WWJD and I think I know they are not acting according to the values that they profess.

I was talking to someone from Kaysville yesterday. I says, hey, about that homeless thing for winter, what would Jesus do about that? And she says, what? And I says, the homeless thing. For the winter. When it is cold? And she says, what are you talking about? And I says, the homeless shelter in Kaysville. Jesus. Would Jesus want that? And she says, no idea, I thought you were joking.

When I see her again I will be sure and tell her that you know what she knows even if she doesn't know what you know she knows.

Good on ya, Gad.

On the other hand, maybe the people of Kaysville subscribe to the version of "What would Jesus do?" expounded by MG, which ran more or less "In modern times you don't have to take what Jesus said literally anymore, because nowadays there are mitigating circumstances."

So far as I can see, for the people of Kaysville the "mitigating circumstances" applicable today (but not around 30 AD when Jesus taught) consist mainly in the fact that quite a lot of Jesus' followers nowadays have expensive homes in nice suburbs. So Jesus would understand that if doing what he said might lead to a fall in property values, they are not expected to do what he said they should do.
