Some critics. Weasels.

Weaseling in and out of any responsibility that might admit to being wrong or mistaken in their pointed accusations, however unfounded. They then come back with something like, "Yep, he's describing himself down to a tee" or, "He should look in the mirror". Or, "He never said that!"

Anything to avoid the fact they are in the wrong and are hypocrites.

That's why there are a few posters I will not engage in conversation with. If I didn't have a tough hide I'd follow Res Ipsa's suggestion after IHQ's tirade of false innuendo in regards to my wife's accident. He still doesn't believe me. And then he brought Marcus and Limnor into his orbit.

The powers of persuasion.

That's callous and borderline psychopathic in my opinion. No feeling of empathy.

It doesn't matter. For those with eyes to see and ears to hear it is readily apparent what the modus operandi is of these folks.

They never give up. That is what I find absolutely fascinating.

OK. Enough time with them.

MG

No, my good sir, he has not. And I don’t think either of us expected otherwise. Although it could be said that even a non-response is meaningful.

I think he follows the guidance of his prophet. Much like Joseph Smith, who under examination admitted he “pretended,” MG appeals to authority selectively—asserting certainty when it supports a claim and flexibility when it does not.
This is what makes it difficult to take either of you seriously. I listen to a Christmas podcast (linked to on pg. 7 of this thread) which discusses the early roots of Christianity...Bari Weiss is a practicing Jew...and this is worthy of discussion and/or ridicule along with whether or not I was/am telling the truth in regards to my wife's accident on Dec. 6th?

I've discussed the early days of what we now call Christianity elsewhere. Indid not believe I needed to rehash that again.

If there isn't an element of trust and giving the benefit of a doubt, no matter what you think about Elder Holland and his stories, then I think we have very little to talk about in good faith. IHQ is already on my 'naughty list' and it appears as though Limnor and I will not be able to have a conversation in good faith from what I've heard him say thusfar in posts here and there.

Unfortunate. Critics. :(

MG
Were you under the impression that either of us take you seriously? I would have thought the copious amounts of parody and satire were indicators.

I think you may have to explain yourself.

I'm actually not sure.

I thought I was rather straightforward as I assumed that you were. It's hard to tell around these parts. Truthfully? I'm done with those that were questioning timeline and account of my wife's injury and what's coming after.

The response made me realize that at times this place really is toxic.

I'm going to simply leave it at that. I have been telling the truth to the letter.

Done.

Was I not straightforward? I’ve said from the beginning of posting here a couple of months ago that I don’t trust you.

Yes you did. That's unfortunate.

I suppose that it might be about time for you to go full on 'satirical' over on the "crooked" thread as you wanted to do earlier. We may have reached that point.

Lack of trust breeds that sort of response.

Sorry things went south from the 'get go' for you.

I don’t think things have gone south, it’s just part of working through ideas in public. I’m still considering the satire but also enjoying Philo’s contributions.

More of that strategy I defined a while back:

...another of mentalgymnast's bizarre projections. I have to give it to him, he describes how he posts with great clarity. He just can't admit he's the one posting like that.
My research on trolling defines this as a common tactic. It is also quite interesting to see how he labels his projections.

If I may, Limnor, ...

In one of your early posts you said something to the effect that you believed the Book of Mormon was "true". I suspected at the time that MG might latch onto you as a new "best friend", and fellow something or another, and wondered if he realised that you were not testifying about the "truth" of the Book of Mormon as if you were a Mormon. I could see at that time that there could be trouble ahead, but didn't feel it was my place to say anything.

I guess now I can say: "Didn't tell you so!"
