Re: Temples dotting/covering the earth.

Post by malkie »

I'm beginning to wonder if some apologists have a completely wrong idea about critics.

I always thought that it was uncontroversial that critics will view almost everything about the church through 'different eyes' from faithful members. That has been rather obvious, right? So it seems a bit strange for a faithful member to feel that they have to say it, and then say that they said it, and then reiterate that they said that they said it.

This kind of repetition gets to be a bit boring. However, I'm waiting to see if the poster in question has another go at saying the same thing again.

You may have been referring to me, but you were quoting Marcus, and your comment seems to address exactly what you quoted.

It also usually involves not quoting the person you're supposedly ignoring, right?

I thought, actually, that that was the essence of ignoring someone: you don't see their comments (except as quoted by someone else), and therefore don't start your comment with a quote from the poster on ignore. However, as far as I remember I've never had anyone on ignore, so I can't be sure how the feature works.
I did it just to see how it works. The ignored poster’s post is simply condensed and hidden but you can click a link to see it. So it involves self-discipline to truly ignore someone.
If you're not signed in you see all the posts. I saw it but was actually replying to malkie. Just how nit picky do you guys want to go on this?

I typically sign in and sign out each time I look at the forum/board. That way I don't stay signed in. Is that transparent enough for you? ;)

As it is, it is true...I don't communicate directly and normally do not see all of Marcus's posts. Same with IHQ. Same with one or two others. It makes life a lot easier, speaking from past experience. The downside, if any, is they can say and post whatever they want to and simply get away with it.

That is definitely the lesser of two evils.

We are actually veering off topic at this point and it is time consuming. I'm hoping enough has been said in regards to this very important matter. :?

I think you might be missing something here, so I’ll remind you that it has been noted that critics see differently, that this noting was previously noted, and that the fact of having noted it is now being reiterated to ensure the noting is noted.

The parody writes itself.

Thanks for the clarification. I didn’t really care if you responded to malkie or marcus I just wanted to poke at you to see how far you’d go in response.

I didn’t count the characters but think it’s somewhere around 200. That’s pretty impressive.

Why do I let myself get sucked into MG world? Sometimes it’s fun.

What I really wanted to talk about was the sincere fraud thing, but frankly I don’t like it when gad and Kish and IHQ disagree, so I’m hesitant to put my post in there…

Someone encourage me and tell me it’s ok.

There are times when I find that I enjoy your perspective although I find it rather limiting and/or restrictive. But yeah, it's fun in its own sort of way. :)

It's OK - really. You're a big boy, and can disagree with one or other of these fine gentlemen and scholars, or even disagree with both!!
