This explains that either mentalgymnast doesn't understand how discussions go, or he's pretending to. Limnor has been pointing out the issues in mentalgymnast's actual words and arguments. Mentalgymnast is welcome to try to do the same, but in no way do a person's beliefs need to be known in order to evaluate and comment on the points they make in their posts.

I note that MG failed to respond to this post, but responded to a later post. Perhaps he missed it? Many people might think he chose to ignore it specifically because he knows he’s painted himself into a corner on the discussion, has failed in his attempt to distract that line of discussion by trying to make it personal, and has then had to run away. Not me, I think he’s just missed it.Limnor wrote: ↑Fri Jan 16, 2026 12:50 amI’m not asking you to account for my beliefs, my support system, or how “safe” I am on the board. I’ve been transparent. As it is, I’m typically the one on the hot seat and, at least from where I sit, often misinterpreted and/or misrepresented.
To the point that there are some folks that have a track record which necessarily demands I don’t interact with them. It’s a fool’s errand to reason with them. From my perspective you are ‘borderline-ish’ in that you are, as a matter of fact, calling out what you believe to be “absurdities” without any evidence that your so-called conclusions are true.
You are operating behind a firewall of critical support in that you don’t believe in the core messages of the Restoration. You are free to criticize that which you don’t believe or do not fully understand and are able to be called “safe!” to each base you run to.
You are not called out on absurdities because, for one, we/I actually know very little about your own beliefs. You’re safe. I, for one, have not challenged you to explain any of your theological views. Not that I really know much about what they are…

Joseph publicly denied practicing polygamy while privately practicing it. He authorized secrecy by invoking God, threatened spiritual consequences for disclosure, and allowed others to bear false public testimony on his behalf. Those are documented actions, not metaphors. Again, the question isn’t whether Joseph believed he was commanded by God—it’s why he told people things he knew were false and invoked God to enforce that deception.
Calling that an “absurdity” isn’t a value judgment, it’s a description of the contradiction between public denial and private practice.
If you think that contradiction is being misrepresented, I’m open to correction—but it needs to address those actions directly, not my presumed motives or lack of vulnerability. It’s a discussion board about Mormonism, not limnorism.
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

I would be more deferential to a woman than I would a man. Initially, as you may remember, I thought Limnor was a woman. Finding out that he was a military guy I figured he might be able to take a bit of push back or 'razzing' that I would be hesitant throwing in the direction of a female.malkie wrote: ↑Fri Jan 16, 2026 2:56 amC'mon now, Marcus.Marcus wrote: ↑Fri Jan 16, 2026 1:35 am

I open doors for women, if that's of any consequence and/or helps explain things.
Also, when I hear 'trash talk' coming from the mouth of a woman, that bothers me a lot more than it does if the same words are coming out of the mouth of man.
Call me old fashioned.

Oh Marcus! You should be ashamed of yourself!
Shut the hell up, MG. Unless you know the king's name.
Judge not lest ye be judged, MG-boy!
PS. Mother in Heaven is a fat disgusting pig that needs to wear a bra. Oink!
No. I will call you a fake.
You're a joke.
Question:
At what age in heaven did you stop sucking Heavenly Mother's breast?
10?

He's just trying to get a rise and make the thread all about himself like he always does.
He's a troll.
