I would ask you to unpack that, but you probably wouldn't answer.

But you take care, okay?

It often seems to be the case that critics are hyper focused on money concerns and power grabbing issues (in their opinions). Seemingly in order to ignore the good that comes about as a result of the teachings of the church/gospel in the lives of its members.

Even within the last few days this 'theme' has been inserted in threads that had very little to do with 'power grabbing' or 'money grubbing'.
It just gets a bit tiresome and repetitive.
That's why I brought it up, simply to ask that you might consider...'what else ya' got?'

MG
I’m not sure that you understand what I wrote. But maybe that’s my fault. Perhaps I was too obtuse.MG 2.0 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 25, 2026 11:41 pmPlacing all eggs in one basket called 'leader worship' or being a slave to an institution doesn't do justice to the path I've followed to get to where I am. The path has been wide ranging with input from many sources, including my own intuition, questioning, and experience.Morley wrote: ↑Sun Jan 25, 2026 11:05 pmHa! You asked me to elaborate when I made the same accusation of you. And I did. I made a couple of posts doing so.
Now I’m asking the same of you, MG. Please take a little time and expend a little effort explaining which parts of this don’t make any sense to you. I’m looking forward to your thoughtful rebuttal.
People like MG don't want to keep it objective. Because, well, objectively, all they got is the subjective.Limnor wrote: ↑Mon Jan 26, 2026 3:01 amIf you remove money and power as motivations for change, “what else ya’ got” is mostly institutional accommodation to member pressure rather than new revelation from God. But that doesn’t really help much if supposedly eternal ordinances can be adjusted based on human input. Also people benefit, so abuse of power and lying is ok. It’s also ok because that abuse can be levied on God as well.
Projection is so revealing.MG 2.0 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 25, 2026 1:49 am...My concern here, in particular, is that we really don't know for certain what influences the moral compasses of those that participate here. Especially when there may/might be a 'build your own' scaffolding for behavior/action that might at times conflict with a more strict 'version' of truth telling...
Can you think of anything that would cause you to reassess that view point, where you’d think nefarious actions of the Brethren outweighed the perceived goodness that you see in the lives of some members? (I don’t think you can). I’m testing where your line in the sand is, because I don’t think you’ve got one. The Brethren have committed a decades long shell company scam to mislead the SEC and the members about the financial situation. One of the current First Presidency whitewashed a members record as a child abuser, allowing them continued access to minors, and keeping the risk he posed to others under wraps. Even from family. I mean, what could they possibly do that you would consider unforgivable in terms of your continued participation in the Church? If they brought back polygamy, would you go inactive? What about them saying all senior couples must serve a mission? If they started allowing same sex marriages, would that tip you out of the pews? Reinstating the Priesthood ban perhaps (although that didn’t cause you a problem first time around)? What would it actually take, given you have already stated that you place belief in God as secondary to belief in the institution?
He’s already stated outright that there's absolutely zero information that could help him change his mind.I Have Questions wrote: ↑Mon Jan 26, 2026 11:03 amCan you think of anything that would cause you to reassess that view point, where you’d think nefarious actions of the Brethren outweighed the perceived goodness that you see in the lives of some members?
