Picking Up a Live Flash Bang

After doing a bunch of digging, I’m calling on this one. The video does not show the person being injured. It just shows her running, writhing in pain, and calling for a medic. There is no information from her or anyone purporting to be an eyewitness to her injuries. It’s a MAGA troll making crap up to distract from the violence inflicted on the citizens of Minneapolis.

ICE/CBP agents are not trained in crowd control. Watch how they operate and you see what they are trained to do: subdue one or two individuals with overwhelming force as brutally as possible. But they are given a full set of crowd control devices. These “less than lethal” devices are not intended to be deployed at point blank range. Yet, ICE/CPB have seriously injured several people doing just that. They blinded one kid by shooting a pepper ball in in his face at booing blank range. They seriously injured another by shooting a tear gas canister at a man’s face. The lack of training combined with the angry, brutal attitude of agents toward the public makes it much more likely that the person in the video was injured by the impact of a fired less than lethal munition than picking up a flash bang off the street. The concussive effect of the flash bang at that range would have knocked her down and incapacitated her.

The video shows that an agent fired a projectile direct into the face of an unarmed young person from about six feet away. It was done deliberately, and there was no-one else the agent could have been aiming at. From the video it is clear that this not very big person was no threat to anybody. Now he is blind in one eye for life.

That agent should face criminal charges, and a large civil damages suit.

Why are you looking at me? I'm not in favor of violence against protestors who don't interfere with enforcement actions. Very pro-protest by people who don't violate the law.

What was the object in her right hand that she tossed to the side prior to dropping and writhing?

It looks like a crowd control canister, probably CS gas. It would be hot as “F”, and from her reaction she looks like she got a pretty good dose of it, including a burned palm. The gas burns the face and lungs pretty intensely for about a minute, so that would explain the panic.

A flash bang would’ve most likely shredded her hand - but we didn’t see an explosion, we didn’t see a flash, we didn’t see a 9-banger bouncing around, and we didn’t see pepper balls hitting people around her. Plus, she had both her hands still in tact.

PS- There’s also a chance she was shot with rubber bullets. That crap hurts like a mf’er, and can do some real damage to a finger, nose, teeth, eyeballs, and throat.

The implications of what you have written here do rather depend on what you mean by 'interfering with enforcement actions'. Could you be a bit more specific, perhaps?

She is running away from a smoky area. Then writhing on the ground with everyone around her focussed on her hand for some reason. Are you saying you think ICE shot her in the hand? How would a concussive effect affect her hand more than the rest of her body? Nobody gets knocked down from a concussive effect. So far, I'm not persuaded you're correct.
