The one with the purses and the shoes was probably KimberlyAnn? She also had a lot of daughters.

She later married cksalmon.

I miss EAllusion. He and his partner were sick at the start of the pandemic. He never registered here so I always worried he didn't make it.

Hats off for Beastie. Her discussions of and about the Book of Mormon should have been preserved.
I just re-found my link to beastie's Mormon Mesoamerica

If I recall correctly, this was a reconstruction of the original blog. After a crash and failure of backup, a guy in California whose name escapes me (as do many things these days) was able to construct this blog from text that he and I (If I recall correctly) salvaged. Unfortunately a lot of the images and links could not readily be recovered.

Anyway, this is the latest iteration of beastie's work that I'm aware of.

Thank you, the link has some personal information about Beastie which was good to read. Unless I am missing connections, this is a remnant of her blog.

Her ZLMB discussion with Brant Gardner was worth remembering. Unfortunately a lot of specifics have faded in my memory.

Was EAllusion the person who got deep into Biblical Studies and became Anglican or something like that?

He may have briefly reappeared when I was being dog-piled by a group of posters to agree that I was the most exasperating person ever and reveal that I was the reason he quit the board.

I was taken aback by that. Wow.

Or perhaps I misremember.

I am still sad about the passing of YahooBot, and he could be pretty damn annoying. His shelf started to collapse in his last months on the board, it seemed to me. Interesting guy.

If I recall correctly toward the end he admitted Mormonism wasn’t “True,” but he went along with it. I get it. If you spent the entirety of your life living the faith and your family is also faithful, you don’t want to pull the rug out from everyone at the end. To be honest, I was shocked to hear he passed; I thought he’d live into his 90’s. I guess he wasn’t mean enough to stick around for that long, ha.

His constant accusations of "anonymous coward" are what will stick out in my mind. He did give Keene $300.00 to return to Utah to reconcile with his girlfriend, so he had that going for him.

That's news to me.

I thought so too, considering he was an avid marathon runner. I guess my semi-serious maxim by which I live my life is true: "A man has only a finite amount of heartbeats allotted to him. Why burn through them prematurely by exercising?"
I guess he wasn’t mean enough to stick around for that long, ha.
I see what you did there. :-)

I think he was, in some ways, a decent guy, but when it came to defending his faith he was not above compromising on ethics and morals. The very definition of Mopologetics, in my book. In the end, I thought the good outweighed the bad, but he had a very refined sense of the boundaries between clever and hypocritical, ones I do not share.

If I recall correctly he was morally opposed to the position the church took on CA Prop 8, but still contributed financially because he felt that he could not disobey his stake president
