Funny how everyone is certain they’re not the false teachers Jesus warned about.

Hi,

I would like to know why Mormons believe that baptism is a prerequisite for salvation? The thief on the cross wasn't baptised but went to heaven.

Thanks.
How do you know he wasn't baptized? The Bible is silent on this, so how can you possibly know what he did in life?

Ok but when did Jesus say that we must do proxy baptisms?
Through Paul (1 Corinthians 15:29) according to the Mormon interpretation, and Joseph Smith's later revelations from God. So if it was from God, then it's good to go isn't it?

Considering the history of the world, and the literally tens of billions of false teachers, you are already WAY behind! You better get callin' ''em by name amigo!

Got a chuckle from me.
I doubt that there is much serious in the question here but as a game this is a good move.

Paul’s main point, within the context of 1 Corinthians 15, is that if there is no resurrection of the dead, then such actions—whatever they specifically were—are completely meaningless.

Why do you feel qualified to read Paul’s mind to assess what his main point was or wasn’t? On what basis is your opinion on this more credible than someone who reads it differently?
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

Another fundamental question is, why do we need the Book of Mormon? Christians go to heaven without the Book of Mormon.

Exactly. Hence why the early Christians practiced baptism for the dead, and why Jesus restored the practice through Joseph Smith. Not all of their relatives had found Jesus, and so, since the ordinances of salvation were necessary, they baptized themselves for their dead who didn't get the chance.
