Q for Non-God/Bible Believers
We're discussing the Anti-Christ of Revelation in the Nuclear/WW3 thread downstream here. The issue of the Mark of the Beast came up. Here's my question.
If it were to turn out that you needed a mark of some kind in whatever form (Chip, card, facial recognition, fingerprint, some form of online banking that held Trump's identifier or MAGA or SS# even possibly changed so the first 3 numbers were 666), in order to buy and sell...do you think you'd take it? Maybe imagine that your family is starving.
If yes, why?
If no, why?
Note: I am NOT assuming that Trump is the Anti-Christ of Revelation. It could be a successor or someone we haven't even thought of or know about yet.
We're not out to nail anyone on this thread or get nasty. I'm just curious what you think you'd do in that situation and what your reasoning might be. We're not talking about instructions to Believers either. Just you guys who have no belief in God or the Bible.
No pressure to do this.
No chasing anyone down you guys.
No put up or shut up deals either.
If you want to arm wrestle someone about this--->go start your own thread.

Re: Q for Non-God/Bible Believers
Well, we already can't fly without RealID, which is beyond a driver's license.
I can't open my phone without using a PW or my fingerprint.
I can't pay for anything on Amazon and have it delivered without a cc #, which has to be verified w a zip code # and the 3 digit cc security code.
I can't get prescriptions without first giving my 2 digit month, 2 digit day, and 4 digit year of birth.
We can't get the good price at a grocery store without entering a membership # , usually a phone #.
We can't file our taxes or get a tax refund without providing our SS #s.
What exactly is your question? You did give as an example: what if "SS# even possibly changed so the first 3 numbers were 666".
Given I don't believe in any of the concepts you mentioned, I suppose it's redundant to note that I also don't believe any combination of numbers represents evil. The math professor in me would like to mention that thinking some numbers are evil while others are not is nothing more than mathematical bigotry.
If your question is: Would I object to needing a mark of some kind in order to feed my family, we already do. And no, there's nothing 'evil' about it.

If the mark had to be 666 in order to feed my family? That’s an interesting thought exercise. To me the mark, if it were 666, wouldn’t so much be supernatural, but rather a humiliation ritual.
We’re already there. What would yet another obvious humiliation do to change that? If there’s some litmus test God is making us endure we’ve already failed every time we click “ok” for a website to drop cookies, collect our habits, and sell them to other businesses.
It would be used to psychologically break you so you just comply with whatever. And I have to say, in many ways we’re already there. We politically and militarily serve a foreign government. Our financial system is designed to extract money from us as much as possible, ie, we’re fleeced like sheep constantly by our overlords. Do we not suffer constant mockery of our identities, values, and desires by the entertainment, news, and political classes? Are we not surveilled constantly so the ruling class knows every purchase, every movement, every comment we make?Humiliation rituals, often documented on Wikipedia, are actions intended to degrade, shame, or lower the status of an individual or group, often to enforce social conformity, hierarchy, or punishment. These rituals range from historic public punishments like the Road to Canossa to modern hazing, bullying, or the dedovshchina (military abuse).

Like others, I don’t understand your question. To try and put your question in the form in which I think you mean it… “If you had to wear a yellow star on your clothing, that was visible to all, as an identifier to allow you access to things like shops and jobs, and that the yellow star signified loyalty to the Trump Reich, would you accept wearing that yellow star, or not?”Jersey Girl wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2026 1:36 amWe're discussing the Anti-Christ of Revelation in the Nuclear/WW3 thread downstream here. Is that the gist of what you are asking?
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.

Hi, Jersey Girl -
I think that Doc has it right; such a requirement would be Trump’s way of humiliating people. It would also serve as a loyalty test, and Trump would expect his servile evangelical base to push their discomfort aside in order to transact in normal daily activities, like those Marcus has listed. How else are we going to pay for that Chic-fil-A, right?
But your question prompts a follow-up. If we really were to reach that point (and I can see why folks could think that we’re closer than ever), would it really matter? Wouldn’t all of us just be playing out an inevitable Biblical end times prophecy that would need to complete? Isn’t that what many serious believers are wanting to see happen given how the story is supposed to play out?
I’m also curious as to if you’d refuse to participate in receiving your Mastercard of Darkness, and what that stand might lead to afterwards.

Revelation wasn't a prophecy for something to happen in the far future, it was supposed to happen in the immediate future, the Anti Christ was Nero. So, no, I wouldn't fear any kind of divine retribution, it would just be distasteful enough that I'd do just about anything to avoid any kind of Trump marking on my body.

If there weren't some alternative, yes.Jersey Girl wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2026 1:36 amIf it were to turn out that you needed a mark of some kind in whatever form (Chip, card, facial recognition, fingerprint, some form of online banking that held Trump's identifier or MAGA or SS# even possibly changed so the first 3 numbers were 666), in order to buy and sell...do you think you'd take it? I definitely don't think that there would be some divine or metaphysical consequence for me doing it.
There's certainly an aspect of principle that wouldn't make me too happy about doing it. In the past, I've gotten an America the Beautiful Pass every year for about 15 years (if my memory is right). I used to go to Red Rock Canyon a lot, so it paid for itself. When I stopped going regularly, I kept buying the pass as a way to support our national parks. I just couldn't bring myself to buy the most recent pass where the MAGA's god-emperor put his face on it. I've had to make a similar decision as a numismatist and the upcoming semiquincentennial coin that will feature MAGA's god-emperor.
If there were no other way to carry out banking, or take care of my son, then I would absolutely take it. Being inconvenienced, or foregoing a coin within my collection, as a matter of principle is one thing, when it comes to not feeding into MAGA's need to fetishize the image of their messiah. Not being able to live is quite another.

As I've mentioned before, I wouldn't want to go to heaven because of the people it's reputed to attract.
I hope that answers the question.

Religion is for people whose existential fear is greater than their common sense. It's also the favored cover for hypocrites.
The god idea is popular with desperate people.
