You seem unconvinced of your own claim, because here you are again.

You can’t quit us. : D
I'm afraid that I'm somewhat guilty of the same and have the same problem, I keep coming back.

I have to think that will eventually change and I'll disappear for good.
Perhaps someday.

Just don’t make it today.

So as much as you know about Mormonism, are you saying you wouldn't jump at the chance to be in a room with Mormons for 10hrs to discuss their religion??? Seriously??

If you were actually honest with me I guarantee you would choose be able to discuss Mormonism with Mormons for 10hrs over a bunch of exmormons!

I remember somewhere on here you said you're a missionary critic. So as a missionary critic shouldn't you jump at the chance to teach Mormons for 10hrs that the gospel isn't actually like what a regular missionary teaches?
This is what I'm saying: I would definitely not jump at the chance to be in a room with Mormons for 10hrs to discuss Mormonism, no way, not a chance because I don't like being around Mormons -- they are liars and exaggerators, all of them, and I really don't like Mormons at all. I've had some discussions with MG over the years mainly about the Book of Abraham and have found him to be a dummy. The only thing I like about MG is he likes Led Zeppelin, so we have that much in common.

And, I am being totally honest with you in making that statement -- so you can accept or reject it -- but you should know that I have a solid reputation for telling the truth as I understand it and that is exactly how I understand it!

I'm afraid you don't understand me or my motives and that's okay.

Carry on...
Thank you for being honest and I mean that! Me, I would love to be with Mormons for 10 hours discussing their religion. I absolutely love Mormons! Some of the nicest people in the world!

Now, I'm not saying I would agree with their views and I would definitely try to persuade them that their religion is false, but I would do it with facts and I would talk to them respectfully.

Respect left this board a long time ago. That's why there's no Mormons on the board and only people that need counseling to get over their mental disorders.

I appreciate your post very much. No hard feelings here.

Have a great day!

I didn’t say Mormons can’t follow an argument. I said I prefer talking with people who don’t purposely misunderstand an argument to score some weird point.

You just changed what I said into “Mormons can’t process information like you do,” and then criticized me for saying it.

That’s actually a pretty good demonstration of what I was talking about.
You said you rather spend an hour with the ex Mormons on the board instead of MG, Hound or Ajax, that's the post, don't pretend like it mysteriously disappeared!

I gotta admit, that's a cute dodge though! You picked a side on a thread asking would you rather hang out with exmormons or Mormons and now you're pretending you only meant the three names you put out there. You're doing the exact thing you claim to hate! You change the claim then lecture people for responding to the new one.

Again, you picked a side on a thread asking about exmormons and Mormons, you used three names that for the most part are friendly towards Mormons and Mormonism, then pretend like you didn't say anything about Mormonism on a thread about Mormonism. Like I said, you pretend to be intelligent but it's not working.

Please read the thread title!!!
lol ok.

Hound,

Can you link us to your posts where you hang out with faithful Mormons on their message boards?

I’d like to see this paradise of friendship, goodwill, and peace to all men.
No. : D

Tell me, why are there no Mormons posting on this board? And don't use MG2.0 as an example, that's one Mormon that is overwhelmed with hatred every time he posts here.
Did Ajax go somewhere?

No idea! Probably got tired of being called a fascist, racist, Nazi!

I know you don't care, but the only reason I call people progressive communist or pick your insult, is because the way the Mormons and or Ceeboo is treated. No matter what you think, they are the minority on the board and it's blatantly obvious the more liberal board members post in such a way to make them not want to post here. I know you don't believe that, but it's true.

I don’t know about the OP question… seems like a silly premise to me. Too many subjective factors. Speaking as someone who has come to know several board members in real life, I’d agree with the reverend. Anyone who thinks they know anyone here based on their board personas is delusional or an imbecile.

The topic did remind me of something related. As a young man I remember my father and grandfather telling me story after story about how this or that career turning point infected positively because the person in charge learned of their Mormonism and, upon inquiring about commitment to the church’s ideals, heard of sincere fidelity. These stories were repeated throughout my life and later to my young teenage son, beginning years ago when he became a deacon. The stories continued every time either or both of them had a moment together with me and my son, usually at the dinner table after the women had left to clean up. (yes I grew up in that sort of household)

My son would ask me afterward if I believed those stories. For a while I would simply ask what he thought, and then listen to his doubts as he wondered out loud why that was the topic they always got more excited about when we had time together. He’d say they seemed obsessive. I didn’t disagree but encouraged respect to hear out their life experiences.

Now that I examine things from outside the bubble, a couple of things occur to me as being true. First, that the stories told by my father and grandfather are likely accurate but interpreted inaccurately. They cast those moments as testimony affirming of Mormonism. But I think it was a simple test of integrity instead. The religion itself was inconsequential to the probe. It’s hard with candidates for jobs that involve judgment and discretion to assess honesty, since every candidate puts on their best show to win the job. Second, the flip side of this coin. I’ve experienced far more positive career inflections in recent years as a result of talking candidly about my exit from Mormonism and how challenging that was, but necessary to maintain personal integrity. Again, the religion itself is inconsequential and it’s more about sharing a personal anecdote that says everything about who I am - a person of deep integrity - without explicitly saying it.

Indeed! I mean, who knows the first thing about Hound?

I noticed that many people, upon finding out about me discontinuing involvement in the LDS Church, were relieved and happy for me.
