between a rock and a hard place. The people who might resist the Taliban are the ones in most danger if they stay to resist the Taliban in Afghanistan. One might try to finesse the problem by gradual removal of those in danger. Now clear the finesse is not possible.

It might have been helpful if some folks in the know had been more upfront about the agreement made some time ago to turn things over to the Taliban.

That's why I said fewer 9/11 attacks. The threat is probably more broad now after this poorly planned withdraw.

Good foreign policy is to be a good friend and a terrible enemy. Right now American is a pretty soft enemy and a terrible friend.
Where was this complaining last year?
Well, you see, Trump's planned withdrawal was nothing to complain about. Because it would have happened at a different date. Let's see: would it have been earlier or later than Biden's? Anyway, this is Biden, so everything is different now.

Biden merely let Trump's agreement plan playout, so your problem is with Trump. The Trump administration is who decided to negotiate with the Taliban on the terms of withdrawal, to the exclusion of the existing government. Trump is the one who told them we'd be out by May 1st. Trump is the one who withdrew 90% of our troops prior to Biden's administration.
Oh really? Is Biden somehow bound to uphold Trump's policies? It's a shame he didn't keep the remain in Mexico policy for asylum or the other innumerable executive orders he overturned on day 1. It seems Biden pulled out against the advice of his handlers. I'll grant you that Trump had isolationist tendencies as well but this debacle belongs to Biden. And I'm not convinced that it's ever wise to negotiate with terrorists.

And Mark Levin did complain when Trump left the Kurds to the Turks. I'm not complaining. I'm just pointing out there were a bunch of lies in Biden's speech.
And when the Confederates saw Jackson standing fearless like a stonewall, the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

So, Xanax is ok with blowing billions of dollars on supporting a Muslim fighting force and a Muslim government. Huh. I wonder how he’d feel if Afghans were black.

Before we let this degrade into personal partisan political attacks again let me ask you Doc. Do you still favor isolationism? I have changed my thinking a bit on it after this incident. And I'll readily admit that this argument between isolationism and imperialism is a bipartisan issue. But you were in Afghanistan and I wasn't. So I do respect your opinion on this. Are you pretty much falling in line with Biden's speech or do you disagree with him on anything?

... You couldn't describe toast without using "Trump."...

Toast? Oh, that's like, bread heated by thermal radiation so that its outer surface becomes lightly carbonised.

See? No problem.

But US withdrawal from Afghanistan? Talk about that without talking about the person who, in February 2020, made the commitment to make the final withdrawal happen on May 1, 2021?

That's just a bit more difficult. Not sure I can manage it, really, not without leaving out important stuff.

Former Trump adviser and Newsmax host Steve Cortes has concerns that the war was costly … but more importantly, that some dirty refugees might sully his town.
