Ben Park Scrubbed From MI

Shockwaves across BYU continue. I doubt Ben Park will be the last. There are too many honestly good people teaching at BYU and they won't be silenced for long. I think the high-profile casualties have only just begun.

Any predictions, Dr. Moore? Could BYU be getting a new president?

So judging from the 2020 Internet Archive version of the Park page, it says that he was the recipient of a "Short-term research grant" which ran from "May–June, 2018."

Is that what the page said prior to its removal? How many other people are listed on the site who had such short-term grants years ago?

Just trying to make sure that this is not a coincidence. How do we know that the page was not removed before Park spoke out against Holland?

MI does keep little blurbs and pictures of former employees and scholars. Another interesting omission is DCP. But Gee is definitely there. As are some other people who are no longer affiliated with the Institute and had short-term affiliations.

Cory Crawford is assistant professor of Biblical Studies in the Department of Classics and World Religions at Ohio University. After earning his BA from BYU (Linguistics) he received his AM and PhD from the department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations at Harvard University with a dissertation on the historical and iconographic context of the first Jerusalem temple. In 2014–15 he was awarded a Volkswagen/Mellon Fellowship at the Biblisch-Archäologisches Institut at the University of Tübingen, and he has participated in archaeological excavations at Tel Hazor, Israel. He served as associate editor of Studies in the Bible and Antiquity from 2013-2017. His research interests include gender, space, and visuality in the ancient Near East—three of the themes that emerged as part of his doctoral research. He has published in various venues related to Bible and ancient Near East. He is co-editor of a volume under contract with Oxford University Press, provisionally entitled The Bible in Mormonism: A Guide to Scripture in the Latter-day Saint Tradition.
