The majority of poll participants want a moderator team to be re-instituted. Therefore, this thread is a call for moderators. If you wish to volunteer, please post a response saying so.
RULE #1: NO NOMINATIONS! YOU EITHER VOLUNTEER YOURSELF, OR YOU VOLUNTEER NOBODY! You're not allowed to nominate anyone else to do a job you're not willing to do yourself. A good rule for life in general, too.
REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS:
Your status as a moderator will be 100% voluntary--I can't pay you or compensate you in any way, sadly for me. Your efforts will have to be for intangible rewards, such as personal satisfaction with seeing a clean board or whatever.
You must be willing to be a clone of me while in "moderator mode." You're free to participate like you always did when "speaking as a man," but when in moderator mode you must moderate EXACTLY and PRECISELY the way I would. When in doubt, think to yourself, "What would Dr. Shades do?" Creativity, inventiveness, and thinking outside the box are NOT VALUED when in moderator mode. . . in fact, they're expressly prohibited.
Moderators do NOT "punish." They only keep the board running smoothly and correct BEHAVIOR, not human beings.
If you want to be a moderator, you must have a very strong track record of obeying the rules yourself.
If you want to be a moderator, you must have a strong track record of keeping your cool and avoiding, for the most part, knock-out, drag-down conflicts with other members. Disagreements here and there are fine, but if you have a reputation for constantly antagonizing one or more people, then you probably won't be selected.
If you want to be a moderator, it will help if you are a glutton for punishment or are otherwise a masochist. You will be subject to a maelstrom of verbal abuse on a daily basis. Prepare for every decision you make to be fifth, sixth, and seventh guessed and vehemently disagreed with. Plan to get used to the idea that the people you moderate will make it clear to you that everyone else's comment ought to be moderated BUT the one of theirs you just moderated.
Does this sound like the type of thing in which you're interested? Does the concept of undertaking all that appeal to you (don't ask me how)? Then volunteer by posting a response!
I volunteer as well. I acknowledge I don't post much in the Mormon related forums anymore so if accepted I would also be willing to restrict my mod powers to paradise/prison only if it would make posters more comfortable.
