The other part I don't understand about your request Atlanticmike, why would you want this board to be more like a place that gave you the boot (forgive me if I remember wrong but I thought you were banned here). Sure you may face more criticism here but at least you are still allowed to play.
As for your other comments:
There are already tons of religious safe places on the internet to fulfill your desire
More posters would be grand but I suspect Shades would not want them at the expense of free speech
Monetizing the board runs counterintuitive to both the idea of drawing in more posters and being a bastion of free speech

So the Board Business would emulate the Priestcraft model?
So I just finished driving and had an idea. Why not have a fund raiser for moderators? If you give me an address or PO box I'll snail mail you $50. No strings, if you ban me later, my loss.
Why do you think funds are needed for moderators?
Like I said, I know absolutely nothing about moderating. But I don't see any advertising on here so I'm assuming Dr Shades isn't making any money off providing a board for people to talk to one another. I was just making a suggestion. I'll pay $50 towards moderators even though I voted no for moderators.
I think having one forum that's moderated like MD&D would boost membership numbers here. A place some of the people at MD&D can discuss Mormon topics and feel safe, so yes, a safe space.
Safe from what?
Look, I voted no for a moderator team. I think Shades does just fine, I've said that at least a dozen times. But if the board is going to have moderators and be revamped a little bit, maybe play around with a new forum, a snowflake forum. You never know who might start a post. Gee whiz, you guys are obsessed with Daniel C Peterson, give him somewhere to post. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

Moksha? Are you posting as Ceeboo again?

I don't want the board to be like MD&D. I was making a suggestion that one forum couldd be a "safe space" for Mormons to start out in and possibly venture to other forums on the board. If Shades isn't worried about membership numbers like Philo Sofee suggested then my idea really doesn't matter. I'm a business man, I guess I'm always trying to scrounge up business, it's how my brain works.
Ok. How bout doing a yearly fundraiser. Maybe it's been done in the past, I don't know.

Xenophon, in effect, channeled me when he made his responses to you. Everything he said is 100% on the money. But to reiterate:
The Celestial Forum is exactly what you want. Post there and see.
BE the change you want to see at DiscussMormonism.com. If you aren't seeing the threads you want to see, start them yourself instead of complaining that they don't exist.
I understand your goal to have a board that's completely open and anyone's idea can be challenged. I admire you for that, I do. But! Maybe it's my competitive nature or maybe i don't understand your goal, but I think having one forum that's moderated like MD&D would boost membership numbers here. A place some of the people at MD&D can discuss Mormon topics and feel safe, so yes, a safe space. I honestly think if you could figure out a way to design a forum like that, a positive Mormon/religion forum you could draw posters from MD&D. Like I said, maybe you're not interested in that, I don't know. But what I do know, is there's "scholars" over at MD&D that are pro Mormon and there's "scholars" here that are critical of Mormonism. I think a "snowflake" forum could bring the two together even if it is just talking about Mormonism in a positive light. If it doesn't work, scrap it.
One other thing, I know absolutely nothing about moderating a forum or how much time it takes. But why don't you charge people to use the board? Will people not pay to play? I would pay $50 a year. I would think most people would pay at least $10. No?
I doubt many if any of the TBMs from MD&D will come here. This is after all the board that cannot be named. Most ran away from here a long time ago. I suggest you try out what you are looing for on the Celestial forum as others have. See how it goes.

I don't know. I talked to a handful a posters over there privately and I think there would be some interest in finding a place that would give them more freedom but still not overwhelm them like some of the forums here.
