Did you look at the archive thread? You know, the one with the example of plagiarism? Did you ask Shades if he thinks there was plagiarism? And why on earth would you think a person would feel obligated to re-produce material when someone is trolling them on the topic?
How this works is the person making the claim is supposed to back it up. You were not able to back up your claim.

Which brings us back to the topic, in spite of Sledge's continued efforts to troll me over Peterson's plagiarism issues: More and more, this person is showing himself not to be a person who inspires confidence as a moderator. I would not be comfortable trusting him with access to the forum, particularly not the IP information that Res Ipsa said is available to mods.
Because being a clone of Shades requires a moderator to do his/her best to recognize her/his personal bias and to set it aside when acting as a moderator...
My apologies, and i will not refer to your comment in my discussions with Sledge then, but I still think your comment about bias should be applicable to all under consideration.

Let me tell you what you can do with an IP address.
Nothing, except maybe figure out approximately the large geographic region from which someone is posting. That is if they aren't using a VPN.
Without a warrant submitted to an ISP, there is no way an ISP will divulge which customer was using which IP address in a given window of time--pretty sure that's illegal
I think we all need to chill about the personal information thing. Privacy is sacred to me, and I would have no reason to even care about someone's IP address.
On this topic of cloning Shades. I have a few questions. Mormons and Christians attempt to clone Jesus. But in doing so, they are praying for his help...they are reading scriptures daily and attending meetings and the like. And they still fail to clone Jesus. What resources will these cloners of Shades have available to them? Maybe we can get them some what would Shades do apparel or rings or something lame like that? And if they fail, what level of guilt is appropriate to heap upon them?
I'm worried about them losing all sense of reality and diving into deep levels of depression for not achieving the stated goal of perfection.

That is exactly my approach to moderation as well. I put the hat on and do the job. But Sledge, I don't feel like I know you well enough to trust you with my private information. That is not a criticism of you, it's just that I lack experience with you over time because you are new to me. The other folks who volunteered are people I've interacted with and observed over a long period of time. I trust them to hold to a rule of confidentiality as much as I assume they would trust me if I were to volunteer.
I'm saying that you need to prove yourself to me and that can't be done in a short period of time, nor would I want you to go out of your way to try to do so. You need only to be yourself here and it doesn't mean I would judge you based on a position you have taken or how much you disagreed with me. It wouldn't even matter if you insulted me personally on a regular basis.
I'm talking about essential character traits and you can't show me that in such a short period of time. A year from now? Sure. But speaking only for myself, not yet.

I understand, but I really don't think moderators have access to personal information, other than IP address, which don't tell you anything.
