Re: Dear Dr. Shades :-) Board Business
I am a long term lurker who while interested in the problematization of Latter-Day Saint Apologetics, have also been enormously frustrated at seeing the critics of these apologetics reproduce similar kinds of sexist narratives that the apologists like to gloss over or rationalize.
For example: I disagree with a lot of what Hanna Seariac and Peterson have to say, but I was aghast when I read on here someone’s rape metaphor in describing the relationship between the two, when the former interviewed the latter for a podcast.
It was nothing short of disgusting mates, and future post and progmo’s ain’t gonna stand for that kind of talk from y’all any more than they would a Latter-Day Saint source.
Misogynistic speech whether clothed in Latter-Day Saint politeness or otherwise is still harmful and is barrier to new people even wanting to participate here.
The MD&D site has a lot of issues and their own way of putting down critical introspection in terms of class, gender, race and sexuality, but I can trust them to have no tolerance for rape metaphors.
When I saw this here thread though, I finally realized I’m probably hardly the only one with these concerns.
Hell, even the Reddit sites have sometimes been more carefully moderated!

Overwhelmed in that this board is intense, very intense and I don't see to many Mormons or Christians wanting to join in. That's why I suggested a forum for new poster and even veteran posters could hang out without any negativity. For new posters, once they're comfortable they could move on to other forums. Personally, I don't see that much of a difference between the celestial/terrestrial. Just a suggestion.Res Ipsa wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 5:53 pmWhen you say "overwhelmed," what do you mean?Atlanticmike wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 5:36 pm
I don't know. I talked to a handful a posters over there privately and I think there would be some interest in finding a place that would give them more freedom but still not overwhelm them like some of the forums here.
