That’s fascinating. So if he’s tracking this then he’s likely (or at least possible) that he’s also tracking what these other critical Latter-Day Saint scholars and influencers are saying.

The apologists have long kept creepy dossiers on their enemies and perceived enemies of the Church. But now, having been ejected from the MI and Mormon Interpreter sill being viewed as a kind of "side project" by church leaders, I don't think he has much of a reason to "track" critics, unless it regards old grudges. If you refer to Gina Colvin below, and not "Kiwi57", or "Pahoran" as most know him by, then no, Dan doesn't care about her. That's all the work of Louis Midgley, who travelled from Provo to New Zealand merely to pick a fight with her in person. He served his mission there and nobody in New Zealand dare think or breathe without his permission. Pahoran also lives there.

Dan doesn't track John D. or Petrey, or any of the others to my knowledge. We've helpfully introduced a convenient color-coding system to usernames on this forum. Notice how Doctor Scratch's name appears in dark blue. If you want to know who Dan tracks in the world of Mormon scholarship, their names appear in dark blue on this forum entirely for his personal convenience. (it needs just a little updating)

Did the controversy have anything to do with that Kiwi post-member scholar or was that someone else? Or is this the Dehlin thing?

Hopefully the B.H. Roberts Chair will clarify this, as I could use a refresher myself.

I hope you are. I’m not 100% sure, but I think you should at least get a notification from the system when a report is closed. If it was on the new board, and you didn’t get a notice, your report might still be sitting in the queue. Once the team is appointed, a mod should be able to check for you. If I’m on the team, I’d be happy to do it. If I forget, shoot me a PM. If it’s the old board, then there’s nothing to be done.

I imagine that dealing with any open reports will be on the new team’s to do list.

That really depends on what you're looking for.

If you're looking for a board that can provide you with extremely deep and wide knowledge in and around all things Mormonism - fascinating insights in and around all things Mormonism - broad and detailed answers concerning historical things relating to Mormonism - and valuable personal experiences concerning the various paths that can be taken (and have been taken) to remain in the fold of Mormonism or the various paths that can be taken (and have been taken) out of Mormonism - Then I would say that you're certainly in the right place.

In very short order, you have already been engaged by two of these board members I speak of (Gad and Scratch) but there are indeed many more. If you're interested in finding them, I would suggest spending some of your time in the Terrestrial forum (Most of these folks I speak of like to hang out there - as that forum provides free cigars, comfortable sitting chairs, brandy and will often have a fire burning while these fascinating discussions take place)

I want to tell you what I found to be so impressive about this group of people when I first came to the board, many moons ago: That being their complete willingness to share with anyone and their patience that they displayed when engaging folks who knew so little (That was me)

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your time here - you might need to navigate around some obstacles and you might be forced to read some things that you would have preferred not reading, but it is my opinion that these inconveniences/distractions are a very small price to pay in order to receive the extraordinary amount of valuable information/knowledge/perspectives that can be found littered all over this community.
