Re: Why only seatbelts?
This analogy would be more akin to every car having a seatbelt but everyone being forced to drive around with a giant mattress on the front and back bumpers in case you're hit by someone who chose not to wear his seatbelt.
And when the Confederates saw Jackson standing fearless like a stonewall, the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Cultellus: Are you asking if automobiles have airbags as passive protection to keep passengers from harm? I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. Please elaborate.

If your car has an airbag do you still have to wear a seatbelt?

Yes! Most, if not all states, still require you to wear seatbelts. Air bags plus seatbelts protect the driver and passengers better than either one alone. Seatbelts not only help protect from injury in case of a collision, but they also hold the driver firmly in place behind the steering wheel, decreasing the odds of compromising one's ability to control the car due to being displaced from the optimal driving position by violent, defensive maneuvers that could help to avoid an imminent collision in the first place, in an extreme driving situation.
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

I think we should make all speed limits 25mph and under. Also, I think we should make it mandatory to wear a helmet if riding in a moving vehicle. Maybe start building cars so there's no radio so people will be less distracted. Let's make it law that all phones need to be stored in the trunk while riding in a car. You know how much safer people would be while driving to the abortion clinic if politicians turned all my suggestions into law? Well, except for the clump of cells in the mothers womb, but who cares, that's not really a human.Gunnar wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 4:57 pmYes! Because a given society has not agreed to take all possible measures to reduce to zero all possible risks of physical harm to its citizens, therefore it is irrational for the society to take any measures whatsoever to reduce any possible risks of physical harm to its citizens.Atlanticmike wrote: ↑Fri Sep 17, 2021 5:10 pmI think we should make all speed limits 25mph and under. Thanks for making that clear to us.

Establishing global communism via fear of Covid is running out of steam. The next lockdowns and restrictions against freedom to drive to work, eat a burger or even breathe will come in the name of global warming.
