It's simply unfathomable that we have gotten to here.
Some of us out here in the rest of the world (me and Jens Stoltenberg, Nato secretary general, for instance) are watching.
And our jaws are down on to the floor. I never dreamed that this could happen. Why were adequate police resources not waiting in reserve on a day when there was such an obvious risk of major disorder? I am trying to imagine a mob successfully breaking into the Houses of Parliament or the German Bundestag, and I simply do not believe it would be physically possible in face of the forces that would be deployed.
How? How could this happen? Is America there any more?
Thank goodness some light has dawned in Georgia. What a dreadful end to the Trump era ... but maybe there is worse to come?
Because too many people were in denial. Haven’t you read the posts by Mr. Hair on Fire? All the enablers have been telling us it’s no big deal. And we really wanted to believe there was a line the Trumpers wouldn’t cross.

Yes. America is most definitely here. And yes, it is dreadful and yes it is frightening and yes it is messy, but we will rise. There's a stage in human birth called transition. This is where we are at this very moment. I can tell you that there is at least one Jersey Girl who has gone to tears and who is fresh out of adjectives to describe what she is seeing and why? Because birth is hard and we are laboring in real time.
We will rise.

An explosive device was found at the headquarters of the Republican National Committee in Washington and the nearby headquarters of the Democratic National Committee was evacuated after the discovery of a suspicious package on Wednesday, according to three people briefed on the discoveries.
The device that was found at the R.N.C. was a pipe bomb that was successfully destroyed by a bomb squad, according to an official for the R.N.C.
The package at the D.N.C. has yet to be identified, according to a top Democrat briefed on the matter who was not authorized to speak publicly about it.
The R.N.C. and D.N.C. are headquartered just a few blocks away from the U.S. Capitol, which Mr. Trump’s supporters stormed on Wednesday afternoon soon as Congress had gathered to certify President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s victory and shortly after the president addressed the crowd near the White House.
Someone once asked me how long does it take a Republic to implode and become unrecognizable to someone born and raised in it. I said, "Hrm. Probably about 20 years." I joined the Army in 1995. I retired in 2015. Trump was elected in 2016. I want you to read that Twitter post, and think, very hard, what the Grand Old Party has allowed to happen in our nation's Capitol today.
If you ever wondered why I have such a vitriolic reaction to the jenius and Xanax's sedition, you just witnessed what their BS bought us. I don't think there'll be a 2nd Civil War; it's all tongue-in-cheek crap posting, but that... I'll never let that go.
