Someone once asked me how long does it take a Republic to implode and become unrecognizable to someone born and raised in it. I said, "Hrm. Probably about 20 years." I joined the Army in 1995. I retired in 2015. Trump was elected in 2016. I want you to read that Twitter post, and think, very hard, what the Grand Old Party has allowed to happen in our nation's Capitol today.

FYI The portrait on the wall is of 19th century Vermont Senator Justin Morrill, one of the founders of the Republican Party. After the Civil War, he served on the Joint Committee on Reconstruction, requiring southern states to ratify the 14th Amendment before they’d be readmitted into the United States.
