Amazingly puzzling, no?

The article later states that Chad Hardy, the calendar’s creator, was excommunicated by leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for producing this year's calendar. However, Dobner was not present at the time of Hardy’s excommunication, nor did she participate in deliberations leading to this action and consequently can’t definitively draw such conclusions. Indeed, an article by the Associated Press published 14 July 2008 by the Deseret News reads, “regional church leaders who called the meeting raised three concerns with Hardy during the meeting: the calendar and his failure to keep some church covenants.”

I called today to the church newsroom asking to speak to someone about the article that was posted in the newsroom website today (I posted it in an earlier thread) that made it sound like I was not excommunicated for the calendar, and raked the AP writer through the coals about it. When I called, of course they would not speak to me over the phone and the person I needed to talk to was in a "meeting" and was requested to send an email (so it would be in writing?) Anyway, here is what I wrote. We will see if they respond.
Hello, this is Chad Hardy and I am writing concerning the article "Mistakes in the News: Associated Press Errors More Than Semantics" on your newsroom website.
Your article makes the assumption that I was not excommunicated for producing the calendar. This is incorrect. The ONLY reason why I was excommunicated was for publishing the calendar. Though many choose to turn a blind eye to this fact, this is indeed the reason. There was no other transgression brought before the council besides my inactivity, and when the panel was open for discussion and questions, 100% of their questions related to the calendar. The Stake President eluded to the media that there were other reasons for calling the council in my behalf, and that was for not fulfilling my priesthood obligations (paying tithing or wearing the garments.) Since when is that an offense for excommunication? Since when is it the Stake President's obligation to share such things with the press? I felt what he did was out of line, but I have remained quite about it, until now.
The quote from Ms. Dobner's story that you stated in your article “regional church leaders who called the meeting raised three concerns with Hardy during the meeting: the calendar and his failure to keep some church covenants” is missing the following paragraph that explains what these church covenants were (i.e. not wearing the garment or paying tithing.) By selectively using this quote alone makes a reader assume that I was excommunicated for transgression, and not the calendar. If I was excommunicated for not paying tithing or wearing the sacred garment, then a precedent has been set, and other members should be held to the same standard. Anything less would be hypocritical.
Stating that Ms. Dobner was not at the disciplinary council is accurate, however I reported to her exactly what went on in the meeting accurately and truthfully. You sir, were not there, nor have I spoken to you about what went on that day.
I feel this assumption is slanderous to my good name, and I am requesting that you make a formal correction immediately and post it to your website and other news outlets that might have received the article.
I would appreciate a timely response.
Regards,
CHAD HARDY

Those hypocrites just got pwned! Sweet!mms wrote:The following is a post by Hardy himself over at postmo. I have to agree with him. The Church continues to selectively omit to present only part of the picture re various things (e.g., Wentworth Letter; Joseph Smith Manual as a whole; Joseph Smith Website; Brig Young manual, and on and on).I called today to the church newsroom asking to speak to someone about the article that was posted in the newsroom website today (I posted it in an earlier thread) that made it sound like I was not excommunicated for the calendar, and raked the AP writer through the coals about it. How do the brethern do it? Some guy puts out a calender with topless males and they ex the guy? If the calender was called the Return Missionary calender would he have still been ex'd?? Most likley.. Have they nothing better to do? Whats petty's all these little minions out there looking for anything that could be construed in their narrow minds as something negative to the Kingdom of God and reporting back to their leaders.. Actually its creepy.
