Have any Church publications ever featured Jesus with short hair and no beard? Did he look like the handsome Joseph Smith?

I'm always quietly amused when I enter a religious home and see a portrait of Jesus on the wall. He always looks Swedish. Not too many blond haired, blue eyed guys in Judea in those days.

Here's a computer illustration of what some folks think he may have really looked like:



Personally, I think his hair would be longer. Showing some signs of male pattern baldness. Maybe a hat.

Not sure about that as I have seen murals from the ancient Mediterranean area and many depict Romans and Jews are shown with red, light brown and dark hair.

Thanks. And while those figurines could be dismissed as just crappy kitsch, I actually appreciate that they show a kind of Title IX Jesus, one who encourages both boys and girls to enjoy physical activity. And also one who's secure enough in his masculinity for ballet and girl's gymnastics. That's a pretty good Jesus!
