In my experience, at least a majority (although not all) of the bishops and stake presidents in the church are mega-orthodox nutjobs like Schryver and Pahoran. The kind of super-Mormons who can sniff out a free-thinker a mile away. You either leave the fold altogether or sit quietly in GD and bite your tongue.

Yes. I was stunned to read the other day that you still have your records with the Church. Maybe I knew that years ago but had forgotten it. I had always admired you for acting consistently with your beliefs until I read that astounding revelation recently.

I've considered that method of self-employment. I'm no psychologist, but I'm really very good at playing one, and I'd get to set my own hours. It's either that or become, as my daughters suggested, a reverse stripper and be paid to put my clothes back on.

In all seriousness, talk to the Bishop if you'd like, but I doubt you'll get satisfaction out of the meeting. The fact is that if your Bishop doesn't want you teaching Gospel Doctrine, you're not going to teach it as long as he's in charge. It is your ward's loss.

Maybe you should start a study in your home and invite interested parties?
