I've known Gunnar for over 2 decades. He is quite simply put, a pathological liar. NO one goes to Red Robin and forgoes the fries. NO ONE. How can you yourself know that he's a pathological liar? Let me show you the true test.

In his false healthier-than-thou  broccoli claim, did he even ONCE mention eating the onion rings?

Of course not. No, he goes straight to the fries and totally ignores the onion rings. See? He's lying through his teeth. Twice. I've learned to overlook his lying because he's an overall good guy. But yeah, no fries might be one thing but no onion rings?

That right there is the tip off.

If you don't believe me, hold his feet to the fire and grill him about the onion rings and then watch the denials pour forth!

Finally, someone was willing to provide some truth to the lies!
Yeah, don't worry. The man's trousers are on fire for sure. He'll come back with some kinda mealy mouth bullcrap about how he loves broccoli and all that jazz. Don't believe it. He's probably at Red Robin having lunch right now WITH fries and a tower of onion rings.

My pleasure to make anyone laugh around here. Especially with the hard/frustrating times we're all going through.

Because the post was so unbelievably ridiculous, I wanted to provide a separate thread for it.

Gunnar, on another thread, you made the following post.

"When I go to restaurants like Red Robin that offer the option of choosing broccoli as a side, instead of fries, I more often than not choose broccoli."

I think you owe it to every member of this board, as well as anyone who may be lurking, to explain why anyone on the entire planet would order a burger, and instead of fries to go with that burger, they would opt for broccoli with their burger.

I have provided you an entire thread to explain yourself.

The floor is yours.
I still like hamburgers, and Red Robin's are among the best. I don't always opt for steamed broccoli, just more often than fries. I sometimes do opt for the fries, sometimes the sweet potato fries, sometimes onion rings. I am very eclectic in my food tastes, and there are very few foods I have ever tried that I don't like. I like to vary my choices. I often opt for the steamed broccoli not just because I know it is a healthier choice, but because I actually like it. One of my favorite choices of Asian cuisine, for example, is broccoli beef. The fact that broccoli is also a healthier choice just happens to be an incidental bonus. It is not because I am fanatically or self-righteously committed only to the heathiest choices in food. I occasionally indulge in junk foods too -- probably more often than is wise. I don't always order burgers when I go to Red Robin either. I also enjoy some of their other menu choices, especially their seafood options. I actually enjoy fish, for example, even more than I enjoy red meat or poultry items, though I enjoy them as well. As I have said before, I have long been on a strict see food diet. When I see food, I eat it.
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Ha ha! Whether you believe me or not, the local Red Robin in my town actually does offer steamed broccoli as one of the available alternatives to the bottomless fries. Or, at least they did the last time I ate there, which was before the pandemic.

As for a list of the junk food I have eaten, just name any and I have probably tried it at one time or another. I'm certainly not going to go to the trouble of recalling and listing every type of junk food I have ever tried!

I would like a side of kimchi, although Boston baked beans or a small dinner salad would be nice.

Yeah! kimchi makes an excellent side, especially with bulgogi! Boston baked beans and dinner salad are not bad either!

Speaking of Boston baked beans, have any of you heard this story?

There once was a lady who was famous for the excellence of her Boston beans, and she loved to host dinner parties for her friends, serving them her well renowned specialty. One day as she was preparing for one of her popular dinner parties, she had to make a run to the store for a few things she needed for the party. When she was gone, her son came home from school and smelled the beans simmering on the stove. One of her secrets was to leave the beans slowly simmering for hours under low heat. It smelled so good that the boy could not resist the urge to sample them. By the time he got control of himself, the level of beans left in the pot was down by a quarter.

He panicked, knowing that his mother would immediately figure out who the culprit was. Then he had an idea. He a bee bee rifle that he loved to play with, and a large supply of bee bees. He gathered all the bee bees he could find and poured enough of them into the pot to raise the level of the water to its original level.

Mom came home and finished the preparation of the beans and getting ready for her guests. Her guests loved the Boston baked beans more than ever, and remarked about the little additional zest they hadn't noticed before. The host noticed this herself, of course, and wondered what had happened to make that difference. She was still pondering about that hours after the last guest had gone home, when one of ladies at the party called her to ask if she might have added something unusual to her recipe.

She responded, "Why? is there a problem?"

"Well, the most unusual thing just happened. When I bent over to pet my cat a few minutes ago, I somehow shot my canary!"
