From an article titled: Being Transgender is Not a Mental Disorder:
... study published [in 2016] in the journal The Lancet Psychiatry adds nuance to the topic, finding that the social rejection and violence that many transgender people experience appears to be the primary source of their mental distress, as opposed to the distress being solely the result of being transgender.

For an example of how that social rejection could be expressed, see the bigoted and hateful hyperbole in many of Water Dog's contributions to this thread, posts that Water Dog calls his "light-hearted approach."

"Let's meet face to face and you tell me I'm not worthy," Kristin Beck, a 20-year veteran of the Navy SEALs, told Business Insider on Wednesday. "Transgender doesn't matter. Do your service."

I'm unaware I've made any more assumptions about this than you have WD. I get that you might "run in similar circles" but I fail to see why I should view your take on this any more seriously than I take her claims, and she pretty seriously disagrees with you. Again the point wasn't that any transgendered person in the military will be an amazing operator. Just that there are examples (that isn't the only one) of transgendered serving just fine, often without anyone knowing there was an issue.

It is just my opinion but I like your posts of substance way more than your garbage memes. No need to sink to subgenius's level of thinking.

And to Shades, thanks for the clarification. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't guilty of derailing this whole thing.

I'll thank you in advance for supporting the above claim by quoting me.

See, so much more entertaining than the stupid meme

Orrin Hatch thinks troops should be able to stay in as trans. Compassion is okay for government, not for church.

Oh, it's not a matter of seeing yourself as smart, it's a matter of emotional makeup. Some people like complexity, just like some people like living in a diverse environment, and some people prefer stark differences and sticking with their own. If you want to internalize this as someone calling you dumb, I regret that you walk around with such a burdensome inferiority complex.

And, for what it's worth, you may want to go back and read some Plato. Liberals did not invent ambitious utopian goals. They are baked into the Western tradition. It's good to remind people who worship casually at the font of Ayn Rand, telling themselves that if we simply leave the thinking to the wealthy, everything will turn out great.

Water Dog wrote: Before a transgender could serve without disruption, at a minimum, you'd have to change American culture from the bottom up.

Again though, he didn't serve as a transgender. The claim that "she" served "just fine" isn't accurate.

There have been so many good resources posted, so much one to learn.....

(She's been transgender her whole life, including when she served, Water Dog. She probably didn't speak up then because she thought it was wiser to keep bigots like yourself in the dark, you know, to avoid "light-hearted comments." Try to keep up. )
