why me wrote:Dear zee, I have been around coffee drinkers for a long time. What I do find is that coffee drinkers have a difficult time going through the morning without that cup of coffee. Maybe you have not expeienced it yet but it will come as you make it a regular drink. It is a sedative that is addictive and without it in the morning, headaches come and nerves become edgy as the body is craving that drink. Good luck.

This observation of yours (placing a group of people in a bucket) fits perfectly into your judgmental world.

Zee, coffee is an acquired taste. Just like black liquorice, you either like it or you don't. I've been a coffee drinker since I was 15 and I drink more than 2 cups a day. My dad was the same way and he drank a pot of coffee a day and lived to be 80. There are people that smoke and live to be 80, just as there are fitness nuts that drop dead at 40 from a heart attack. The health statistics are skewed in my opinion, because most people who smoke also drink coffee, so the data encompasses one group into another. For some data look here: http://www.theconnoisseurconcerto.com/m ... 0Wnz1R0%29

If you're looking for health benefits in the antioxidants, there is a valid reason, but it probably doesn't outweigh the potential negatives. Personally, I really don't care... I love coffee. From comedian John Mendoza (walks on stage with a lit cigarette) "They say smoking takes ten years off your life. So what do I miss? Drooling all over myself?" The point is simple things like bacon and fast food can do more to kill you, but how long do you really want to live? 90? Coffee is an appetite suppressant, so if one lost extra weight by drinking it, I would argue the health benefits from not carrying the extra weight would outweigh the potential negatives. Everyone's body works differently and i don't get headaches if I don't drink it, but that rarely happens.

This is a good point. Even if it's soda pop without caffeine, that man-made toxic junk is far worse that some natural beans. I can't remember the last time I drank a can of sody pop.

So Zee, once you acquire a taste for Starbucks quality coffee you'll be hooked (that's why there's one on every corner), but I would argue it's worth it... yum.

Hello,

not by commandment or constraint

Well, first thing first... The WoW is simply a goodwill gesture by Elohim toward weak Saints & to preclude the conspiring of conspiring men in the last days.

So. That said.

And, again, strong drinks are not for the belly, but for the washing of your bodies.

If you've been drinking strong drinks & not bathing with them you're an idiot. Clearly Mr. Elohim wants you to wash with liquor, not drink it. I wonder how many Saints wash themselves with whiskey?

And again, tobacco is not for the body, neither for the belly, and is not good for man, but is an herb for bruises and all sick cattle, to be used with judgment and skill.

Clearly the widspread use of placing tobacco leaves on bumps and bruises demonstrates the wisdom of this friendly guidance by Mr. E. I wonder how a cow would react if you tried to give it a cigar...

And again, hot drinks are not for the body or belly.

Ovaltine and Postum ought to be served cold. Has anyone ever done anything differently? Clearly not any Mormons...

And it is pleasing unto me that they should not be used, only in times of winter, or of cold, or famine.

And these (meat) hath God made for the use of man only in times of famine and excess of hunger.

This one was so important Mr. E mentioned it twice. I'm fairly certain obesity rates in the Mormon corridor is low... Clearly... Because the Saints are following this guidance.

So. That said. I'm fairly certain coffee use ought not be verboten... Scripturally... Because... You know... One can read & comprehend plain words plainly written.

Why would Satan tempt you to such a thing? Waste of effort.

And without the bogeyman, there is no need for his polar opposite in the sky. Leaving Mormonism is truly liberating.

But he is disappointed. But then again, do you think that the Holy Ghost or spirit is in a porn emporium? And if so, what is he doing there?

Are you being intentionally disingenuous? We all know that the HG fled from Zeez long before he had that first cup of coffee. It probably fled about the time Zeez missed his first sacrament meeting. The Mormon HG is a pansy.

I think if fled from Zeez the first time he read about JSJr doing women other than his wife, Emma.

This is so, so true!!!

I actually had a email back and forth with a member of my old ward about the silly HG myths shared at church.

The worst are:

*Holy Ghost has a bedtime of midnight
*Crying or noisy children scare him away
*Laughing makes him flee
*He won't go certain places

Boy, if that was true he wouldn't be much of a companion. Mothers would always be without, people who work graveyard, rescue workers who have to go to unsavory areas...There would be very few with the HG at all, for sure.

Of course there are tons of other things we could add to the list that I am so tempted to make.

The Mormon HG must be something like this:

LOL, funny comments on this thread!

Yeah, he was gone at "Dirty, nasty, filthy affair."

It is sort of entertaining to see the Google results from such a phrase.

Hi Zeezrom,

Try this coffee and tell me what you think. Maybe it will please you.

Of course, start out with a top quality brand of arabica beans. Grind them yourself, for the best freshness, but I never do that.

Next, get a Turkish coffee pot. This is what you do for one serving. Of course, double for two, and so on.

Put in two heaping spoons of your favorite coffee. Add two small spoons of sugar (more or less to your desire).

Now, a dash and then another of cacao.

Again, a dash and then another of cinnamon. The cacao and cinnamon should be of equal proportions, and not too much.

Next, add a veeeery small dash of cardamon powder. Do not add a second one. Very small and adjust to taste on the next time around.

Now mix in 1/8 liter of water and stir it all up completely.

Now put it on the stove. Don't heat it up too fast. On an electric stove, I put it on 5 out of 6. Don't let it boil. You are looking for the creamy foam to start on the top. If you let it go to far, you will lose that. So, when it is foamy on top, but not yet boiling, take it off and run it through a very fine strainer directly in to your coffee cup so you don't have any grounds in the coffee (this is where you depart big time from a typical turkish coffee, yuck!)

Now, you can decide from here. I add very warm milk, again not too hot. If you are really adventurous, whip it to a nice foam first and add to coffee cup up to the brim.

Light a cigarette (oh wait, you aren't at that stage yet) so forget that. Pull up a nice relaxing chair, open your Sunday New York Times Book Review and enjoy!

Let me know what you think. Of course, it is best on Sunday morning instead of church with your lover in bed with your New York Times Book Review. That is a really nice morning. Cheers

Dear Gramps,

Let me just say that after chat last night, I have renewed respect for you. I was LOL'ing pretty hard and I needed that. Thanks!

OK, I'll have to try your idea.

Don't think I hate the taste of coffee. I actually really like it - without sugar or cream. I also like a nice dark beer. My current problem I face is sugar and carbs. I'm hooked and I can't get away from them! Stay away from me pie! But we love pie. No! get away! But we loves it, we do. No!

That was fun. It was nice to chat with you too!

Remember, the recipe I gave you is for my taste. It can be adjusted however you like. I have to watch the sugar too, as I get a bit older and with all the good beer here, it is tough. I do hear you, loud and clear.

Oh, go Dallas. Only one more!
