I also didn't take it to mean that you must know exactly how Shades would behave in all situations directly out of the box. Just that you should be prepared to learn and develop a mod style identical to his and that you wouldn't mind having your decisions run through that filter first and foremost. None of us can pretend to be Shades, his steady hand here has kept things running smoothly for so many years. But hopefully with a little input and guidance from him we can ease his burdens here. Yes familiarity with him and his style is important but I hope a willingness to learn goes a long way.

Exactly so. And Xeno, just keep in mind that there is nothing you can do as a moderator that cannot be reversed. So should you rethink a mod action--you can change it if need be.

A lot of us, often over the course of quite a few years.

He is scrupulously straight and fair, even if he sometimes (quite unaccountably) fails to do what I would have liked him to do. But nobody's perfect ...

That's a pretty good description of my previous experience. Sadly, I suspect we've lost access to the moderator section of the board, which provided pretty good training just by reading the interactions between moderators and Shades over the years. But Shades was always willing to communicate regarding how he wanted moderators to make and implement decisions.

RI, Xeno, and canpakes.

Take them. That's a dream team right there.
I’ll be the one that the other two can slap around on occasion, to relieve the stress of moderation efforts.

See? I can be helpful.

Yep, as long as you keep copy of stuff that needs to be deleted. That's relatively uncommon, though.

I just want to point out you can cuss in both PG and PG-13 movies <- f-bombs are halal for PG-13 movies. So. You know. Future mods. Something to think about.

- Doc
The Motion Picture Association has been pretty inconsistent in the area of language. Usually, you can include one f-bomb and escape an R rating. Multiple uses or use in a sexual context generally draws an R. But there are examples of movies with many f-bombs that are rated below R. It's pretty loosey goosey.

Language is a subject that I think needs some clarification given the use of the language censor. The boundaries of what's allowed in Terrestrial and Paradise and whether moderators should enforce those rules are Shades level calls.

I also really don't recall many (if any) instances of Shades or EA modifying a singular f bomb floating out in the wild. I can only recall actions when the f bombs per sentence ratio began to get out of control. Most of the mod actions I've seen around other swearing had more to do with them being direct personal attacks. The words not being the issue per se, just how they are used.

I've put forth my candidacy several times already, but I more than meet the qualifications you list. Plus, I've acted as a moderator on some pretty major subreddits, and, before that was popular, some large forums.
