Trump reportedly hates dogs. Was Kristi trying to catch his eye for that sweet VP gig?
It's a fair question, and I'm not sure I have a great example of a flip from negative to positive hero. I can think of wrestlers who started out as bad guys, where the fans rejected the intended badness and liked them, and so they ended up "good" but still retaining the negative characteristics. Like Jake the Snake Roberts, he ended up as a fan favorite but you can't say that a guy who is throwing a python on his fallen opponent as a final move is a positive hero. I can't think of any switch in the direction of negative to positive (remember that doesn't mean bad to good). It's probably happened I just can't remember.Dr. Shades wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 7:35 pmGadianton:
When you say the media is speculating about Trump “flipping,” what exactly do they mean? Or, in other words, what does him flipping look like?
So being nice and being convincing is a flip?Gadianton wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 11:01 pmIt's a fair question, and I'm not sure I have a great example of a flip from negative to positive hero. I may have something. The Penguin in Batman Returns. I suppose he's a positive villain? Unfortunately, I don't know enough about the Batman franchise to say if his role in that installment was true to his character historically. So he's a bad guy, but, he breaks the mold as I understand it where the villain simplistically intimidates and terrorizes the people of Gotham. So he comes out gives gives this dramatic speech about how he was abandoned as a child and suffered and made mistakes and all that, but then he exclaims triumphantly, regarding his parents, "but I forgive them!". I about died, it was the greatest monologue of all time.
Imagine if Trump took a play from the Penguin and magnanimously forgave Joe Biden and Jack Smith and blessed those who despitefully used him with the same flair as the Penguin. This is what I think the media means, and it's certainly something I believe, and I came to my belief independent of the media. Yes, he would piss off half of his base, but they'd still vote for him. He would win over the simplistic independents who judged him for his divisive rhetoric and poor sportsmanship.
