They are simply accepting the “hits” as divine intervention, and dismissing the “misses” as not evidence of a lack of divine intervention. It’s very difficult to discuss things rationally with such irrationally minded people.

This was a freakish 'hundred year' storm.

Wouldn't it be great if it stayed that way? But extreme weather events are now occurring at decreasing intervals.

Why? because the atmosphere is being warmed up by the effect of higher levels of CO2. If air is hotter:

1. It can carry a heavier load of moisture that it will eventually dump as heavy rain.

2. It has more energy to drive higher winds and hence more damaging storms.

2. The folks that lived in and vacationed in this area are praising God even in the midst of tragedy. The strength of the human spirit never ceases to amaze me. I think we might be able to at least agree on that.

Quite what praise your deity has deserved as a result of all those innocent kids being drowned, I can't see. But if it makes people feel better ...

If your deity has any rationality, I think he would be saying something like "Yeah, yeah. Thanks for saying all those nice things. But you know what I really want? I want you to get on with caring for and comforting the survivors, and then get yourselves sorted out, install decent alarm systems and PLEASE, PLEASE, stop destroying the nice supportive natural environment I set you up with. That stuff in your skull is called 'brains'. Start using them.'

First Rusty can't get a revelation that would ever actually help a person that needed help and adding to that, he can't even convince the majority of his followers, 64%, to abstain from murder.
