Mayan,
How would elections need to be set up in order for them to be trustworthy?
Anyway, what is your suggestion?
Thank you, Gadianton.
For me to participate again, two items:
1) In person voting ONLY with a single exception for deployed personnel who do not have access to a military base.
2) Valid voter ID that is consistent with audited voter registration rolls.
Remedies for this would be increased polling stations and voting at USA embassies, consulates and military bases.
We have a metric ton of usable technology to achieve this. If we can deliver anything overnight using our technology, we can provide adequate access to all people to vote in person. I think that open polls for up to 17 days prior to the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November would be helpful and reasonable. I think that a national holiday for voting would be patriotic and appropriate. While these secondary ideas are not mandatory for my participation, items 1 and 2 are not negotiable for me. Without them, I will be sitting back and doing something else with my time and energy.
I think that is a fair and reasonable response on my part. I am not complaining. I am not calling people names. I am just saying it will not work for me and that I am not willing to put the shine on a process that is rife with issues and contention. I have no delusions that my position will have an effect on anyone that disagrees with me, other than making their votes infinitesimally more weighted without me.
