It's that, but even when you sit people down in an experimental setting and have them read full articles, research consistently finds that how headlines are shaded has a large impact on how people interpret what follows.

First it was huge stones, then gold, tulips for a while, then oil, and now TP. You have to admit that if nothing else, society is getting more practical.

On an emotional level, the thing that truly annoys me the most is the more effective people are at ignoring naysayers and taking steps to mitigate harm, the more likely those naysayers are to believe they were correct that this was no big deal. Either they get to see how wrong they and it's terrible, or you successfully beat them back and that only reinforces their delusional confidence in their failed efforts to make things actively worse. It's frustrating.

I am not watching this, but I skipped to a middle section and it was just Trump going on and on and on taking credit for the stock market rally yesterday.
